RCCG LOWER JUNIOR ZEAL FOR 2022/2023
AGE 6-8 TEACHER’S MANUAL
SUNDAY 13TH OF AUGUST, 2023
LESSON FIFTY (50)
TOPIC: RAPTURE
BIBLE TEXT: Matthew 24:36-44
[36]But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
[37]But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
[38]For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
[39]And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
[40]Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
[41]Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
[42]Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
[43]But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
[44]Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
MEMORY VERSE: 1CORINTHIANS 15:51 “Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,”
LESSON AIM: Children will learn to wait patiently for the return of Jesus.
CHILD-RELATED TRUTH: God wants you to wait patiently for Jesus’ return.
INTRODUCTION:
Oh no, I’m late, it’s my turn to talk, where are my things? I’m not ready for this at all where did I put the? Oh, hi, children! Well, I’m sorry. It looks like I can’t find it, I’m not sure, you know, I am not very prepared right now. See, it’s my clock’s fault! (look at your wristwatch, day planner, or calendar). Yeah, it doesn’t seem to be working, so I didn’t realize what time it really was, and I didn’t know that, oh well, I guess I’m just not very ready today. Have you ever felt like something was happening, and you weren’t prepared for it?
Maybe you had a test at school you didn’t study for or a game or performance that you wanted to practice for more. Or you woke up late and felt rushed. Well, today we are talking about a very special sort of preparation. We are talking about getting ready for Jesus!
PROGRESSION OF EVENT: MATTHEW 24:36-44
- Jesus told His disciples that about the day He will come back that no one knows, not even Him nor the angels except the Father.
- Just like the time of Noah that no one knew until he entered the ark so will be like His coming.
- The people were holding different kinds of celebration until the flood took them all away and this will be like the coming of the Son of man
- He said two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left.
- And two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.
- Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.
- Jesus said they should understand if an owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into.
GOSPEL CONNECTION: Stealing is a sin and we know that Jesus came to Earth, lived, and died, to take our sins away and grant us eternal life in Him. If Jesus did not become a a scapegoat and die for our sins to be forgiven we will not be able to wait anxiously for His coming back again.
CLIMAX: So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.
CONCLUSION: The Bible tells us that Jesus will return again, and all the sadness will go away and he will scoop us up and take us to Heaven. Judgment delayed is not judgment escaped! 2 Peter 3:7-9, Will you tremble yet remain lost in your sin? Or will you heed to call to repent (like the men of Nineveh)?
CHALLENGE: Well, we want to prepare our hearts. God is always present with us, and He wants us to be mindful of that presence and live in a way that pleases Him. We should daily be in prayer and study our Bibles. And we can be excited that He will come back again. So as we get ready, remember to be thankful for the coming of Jesus. And rejoice in the excitement that we will one day see Him face to face because Jesus is going to come back someday. Do you know when that will be? Well, me neither. In fact, no one knows when Jesus will come back again. It might be tomorrow, and it might be in a hundred years.
INVITATION: To be prepared to see Jesus, you need to accept Him as Lord and Saviour (John 1:12).
