RCCG LOWER JUNIOR ZEAL FOR 2022/2023
AGE 4-5 TEACHER’S MANUAL
SUNDAY 16TH OF OCTOBER, 2022
LESSON SEVEN (07)
TOPIC: PROMISE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

BIBLE TEXT:John 14:16-18; John 16:5-15; Acts 1:4-8.
John 14:16-18
[16]And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
[17]Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
[18]I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

John 16:5-15
[5]But now I go my way to him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou?
[6]But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart.
[7]Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
[8]And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
[9]Of sin, because they believe not on me;
[10]Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
[11]Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
[12]I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
[13]Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
[14]He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
[15]All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

Acts 1:4-8
[4]And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.
[5]For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
[6]When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?
[7]And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.
[8]But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

MEMORY VERSE: Acts 2:17a “And it shall
pass in the last days, says God, I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh.”

LESSON AIM: You have the promise of the Holy Spirit.

CHILD RELATED TRUTH: Receive your promise of the Holy Spirit.

INTRODUCTION: Perfect is the gift of the Holy Spirit, God living inside of you; to seal, guide, teach, comfort you and most importantly to empower you to fulfill your purpose in life. What a wonderful love and provision of God for you! All you need do is to come to simply Ask.

PROGRESSION OF EVENTS
A. And I will pray the Father and He will give you another helper that He may abide with you forever: John 14:16
Jesus Christ gave the promise of the Holy Spirit that He will pray His Father to give to us to be our Helper and that the Holy Spirit will abide with us forever.
B. The Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive. vs. 17
The Holy Spirit is for a child of God who has received Jesus as Lord and Savior
C. “I will not leave you orphans, I will come to you.” vs. 18
To remain connected to God is to be sealed with the Holy Spirit. Without the Holy Spirit you are not part of God’s family and may not see Jesus at His second coming.
D. After Jesus resurrected, before His return back to heaven as He assembled with His disciples, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father which He had told them. Acts 4
E. For John truly baptized with water but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit. vs. 5
F. The disciples asked Him saying “Lord will you at this time restore the kingdom of Israel? He said to them; “it is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. vs. 6,7

CLIMAX: But ye shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you and shall be witnesses unto me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria and to the end of the earth.
You need the Holy Spirit to live a Christ like life and to witness – tell others about Jesus like we see in the life of Peter and Apostle Paul.

CONCLUSION: Now when He had spoken these things while they watched He was taken up and a cloud received Him out of their sight.

CHALLENGE: Ask God to give to you the Holy Spirit He has promised in His word through Jesus Christ, He is for every child of God.

INVITATION: The promise of the Holy Spirit is for those that have Jesus as Saviour and Lord. Receive Him now. John 1:12.
