LESSON FIFTY ONE (51)
TOPIC: JUDGEMENT

BIBLE TEXT: Matthew 25:31-46
[31]When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
[32]And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
[33]And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
[34]Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
[35]For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
[36]Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
[37]Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
[38]When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
[39]Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
[40]And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
[41]Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
[42]For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
[43]I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
[44]Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
[45]Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
[46]And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

MEMORY VERSE: 1 CORINTHIANS 4:5 “Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.”

LESSON AIM: The children will know when they focus their love on Jesus by showing kindness to others so that their judgment will be live forever with God.

CHILD-RELATED TRUTH: Love others through Jesus to live in Heaven.

INTRODUCTION:
Children! Have you noticed that when we are doing competitions, we seem to focus on losers; at least some people will be eliminated because they were not good enough. Though these competitions are just games, most of the participants will end up being hurt. It must be especially hard for those sent home because sometimes they were accused of pulling their own team down. We have all been left out at times, and it is definitely not fun. Jesus had strong words and advice about how we treat those around us. In today’s Bible lesson, we will see what Jesus has to say, and also discover a special reason for helping those people.

PROGRESSION OF EVENT: MATTHEW 25:31-46

  1. As Jesus and His disciples rested on a hillside overlooking Jerusalem, He talked about the end of the world.
  2. Jesus told them some parables that showed them a little bit about the Last Day.
  3. The parables also showed how to live to be ready for Jesus’ second coming.
  4. Some of the things that will happen are that Jesus will return in glory with Angels sitting on His heavenly throne (Matthew 25:3 1-32)
  5. Jesus will separate the people like a shepherd separates sheep and goats. The sheep will be on Jesus’ right, a place of honor.
  6. The people on the King’s right hand will ask when they did all those things for the King. The King will tell them that anything they did for others was the same as doing it for Him.
  7. Jesus said, when we show kindness to others, we arendoing it for Him

GOSPEL CONNECTION: Jesus first showed kindness, love, and service by dying on the cross to save you and me. God sent Jesus, His only beloved Son to take the punishment for our sins. Jesus died on the cross and was buried but He rose from the dead on the third day and now lives in heaven. Jesus also wants you to live in Heaven with Him someday.

CLIMAX: Jesus called the ones on the left side cursed because they did not show kindness and asked them to depart into eternal fire, the punishment for the devil and his angels.

CONCLUSION: The people on the left did not have faith or love God, and also did not help those in need. One way we show our love to God is by showing kindness.

CHALLENGE: When you know how much Jesus loves you and how much He did for you on the cross, and how you are overflowing with His love, you can not help but love other people as He loves you. And when you serve them, you are also serving Jesus. But if you ignore and reject the love that Jesus offers, you will never see other people the way He sees them. You will never be able to serve them unselfishly and completely. And in the parable of The Sheep & The Goats, Jesus tells us that the kingdom belongs only to those who love Him and love others.

INVITATION: To see and love others as Jesus does, you have to choose to accept Him as Saviour (John 1:12).
