RCCG LOWER JUNIOR ZEAL FOR 2022/2023
AGE 6-8 TEACHER’S MANUAL
SUNDAY 30TH OF OCTOBER, 2022
LESSON NINE (09)
TOPIC: THE MANIFESTATION OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

BIBLE TEXT: 1 Corinthians 12:7-11
[7]But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
[8]For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
[9]To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
[10]To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
[11]But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

MEMORY VERSE: Ephesians 4:7 “But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.”

LESSON AIM: The children will rely on God for the Holy Spirit to show in their daily living

CHILD-RELATED TRUTH: God wants you to have the Holy Spirit.

INTRODUCTION:
Children! Did you know that Jesus gave us a special helper to allow us to be connected to God? This helper is called the Holy Spirit, and He helps us as children of God. How do we know if we are filled with this Spirit? Jesus gives us a special clue to look for. If you could have a superpower, what would it be? (Give room for answers). Jesus gave us this special helper to enable us to do amazing things.

PROGRESSION OF EVENT: 1 Corinthians 12:7-11

  1. Word of Knowledge: The Spirit gives us the knowledge we would not know ourselves.
  2. Word of Wisdom: Sometimes the Spirit gives us wisdom about what to do in a situation, something we cannot come up with ourselves
  3. Discernment of Spirits: Helps us know when the something is from God, a person’s own mind or heart.
  4. Gifts of Healing: Praying for the sick and having increased faith to know God will heal.
  5. Miracles: Miracles are things that are impossible for us to do on our own.
  6. Faith: Knowing that even though we do not see Jesus, He is alive and working in our lives. God gives us the ability to trust Him when times are tough.
  7. Prophecy: This is a message God gives to encourage people for the purposes of making them stronger and giving them hope and comfort.
  8. Tongues: The Spirit gives us the ability to speak a language we have not learned and do not know. It is a heavenly language between God and us.
  9. Interpretation of Tongues: When someone is
    speaking in an unknown tongue when praying, it needs to be interpreted. With this gift, someone gives a sense of what was said so everyone can benefit from it.

CLIMAX: All these are the work of the same Spirit, dividing everyone as He pleases.

CONCLUSION: So you should earnestly desire the most helpful gifts (1 Corinthians 11:31)

CHALLENGE: Before the coming of Jesus, the Holy Spirit did not live inside every person but sent to the person God had a special assignment for (Genesis 41:38; Daniel 4:8) but when Jesus was on earth, He told the disciples that He will send them the Holy Spirit that will not leave them (John 14). Jesus needed on back to heaven for the Holy Spirit to live and manifest in your life. The only way you can have the manifestation of the Holy Spirit is to put your trust in Jesus who took the punishment to cleanse your sins when you confess them (1John 1:9).

INVITATION: You need Jesus as Lord and Saviour to be able to have the manifestation of the Holy Spirit (John 5:24).
