RCCG LOWER JUNIOR ZEAL FOR 2024/2025
AGE 13-15 TEACHER’S MANUAL
SUNDAY 10TH OF NOVEMBER, 2024
LESSON ELEVEN (11)
TOPIC: FAITH

BIBLE TEXT: Hebrews 11:1-11
[1]Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
[2]For by it the elders obtained a good report.
[3]Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
[4]By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.
[5]By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
[6]But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
[7]By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
[8]By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.
[9]By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:
[10]For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
[11]Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.

MEMORY VERSE: Hebrews 11:6 “But without faith it is impossible to please him for him that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him”

LESSON AIM: Teenagers should be able to understand that the essence of a Christian is built on faith in the Lord.

CENTRAL TRUTH: Faith is essential in our relationship with God.

INTRODUCTION: Faith in God is rock-solid trust in His character and promises. It’s believing without a doubt that God will do exactly what He says He will, regardless of circumstances. Psalm 27:13.

Faith is the substance of things we’re hoping for, the evidence of things we’re yet to see. It’s the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen – Hebrews 11:1.

Faith is one of the biggest factors in a person’s relationship with God. Faith isn’t merely believing, it’s something that we back up with our lives and actions.

STUDY GUIDE:
A. WHAT IS FAITH IN GOD? Faith is:

  1. Essential to pleasing God.
  2. The belief in God’s existence and His promise to reward those who seek Him. Hebrews 11:6.
  3. The currency through which we receive in reality all that is ours as a result of our union with Christ. It’s the means by which we access the blessings and promises of God – Ephesians 1:3.

B. WHAT CAN WE RECEIVE BY FAITH?

  1. Salvation Ephesians 2:8
  2. Righteousness Philippians 3:9
  3. Peace with God Romans 5:1
  4. Victory over the world 1 John 5:4
  5. Son-ship in Christ John 1:12, Galatians 3:26

C. HOW DOES FAITH COME?

  1. Hearing the Word of God: Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God – Romans 10:17. When we immerse ourselves in God’s Word, our faith is strengthened.
  2. Prayer: Prayer is another avenue through which our faith is strengthened. As we pray, we communicate with God, and our trust in Him deepens.

D. PEOPLE WHO PUT THEIR FAITH TO WORK AND THE RESULTS THEY GOT – HEBREWS 11

  1. Abraham: He believed God’s promise of a son, and Isaac was born to him in his old age-Hebrews 11:11-12.
  2. Moses: He trusted God’s guidance and led the Israelites out of Egypt through the Red Sea Hebrews 11.29.
  3. Rahab: She trusted God and hid the Israelite spies, saving her family from destruction – Hebrews 11:31.
  4. Gideon: He believed God’s call to deliver Israel from the Midianites and led a victorious battle – Hebrews 11:32.
  5. David: He had faith that God would deliver him from Goliath, and he defeated the giant with a sling and stone – Hebrews 11:32-34.

HOW TO BUILD AND STRENGTHEN YOUR FAITH

  1. Be a Person of the Word: Meditate on God’s Word daily, allowing it to shape your thoughts and actions Romans 10:17.
  2. Be a Person of Prayer: Develop a consistent prayer life, seeking God’s guidance and strength in all things Matthew 21:22.
  3. Always Insist on What God Says: Stand firm on the promises of God, refusing to waver in doubt or fear – Hebrews 10:23.
  4. Obedience: Act promptly on God’s instruction, trusting that His ways are higher than ours – Genesis 6:11-22.

LIFE APPLICATION: It is impossible to please
God without faith. Stand in faith, believing for the fulfillment of God’s promises in your life and the lives of others. Pray with confidence, knowing that God hears and answers according to His will.

ACTIVITIES

  1. Encourage teenagers to create a “Faith Wall” where they can write down their own faith goals and prayers.
  2. Divide the group into small teams to research and present on one of the biblical heroes from Hebrews 11.

ASSIGNMENT: Put your faith to work over something you’re believing God for. Trust Him for the outcome, knowing that He is faithful to fulfill His promises – Mark 9:23.

CONCLUSION: Faith is one of the biggest factors in a person’s relationship with God. It is not merely believing, it’s something we back up with our lives and actions through the Word of God.
