TOPIC: REVISION 4/SUMMARY

SUMMARY OF LESSONS 20-24
LESSON TWENTY (20)
TOPIC: HOW TO EXPRESS OUR GRATITUDE 1: THROUGH SINGING PRAISES TO GOD

BIBLE TEXT: Exodus 15:1-19; Psalm 147:1-20

MEMORY VERSE: Psalm 69:30 “I will praise the name of God with a song. And I will magnify Him with thanksgiving”

LESSON AIM: God enthrones the praise of His people.

CHILD RELATED TRUTH: Sing to the Lord from a merry and grateful heart always.

INTRODUCTION: Psalm 67:5-6 Let the people praise you O God, let the people praise you then the earth shall yield her increase, God our own God shall bless us. God gave you a voice so you can sing unto Him and also tell of His goodness. When you sing praises unto God, God is happy and He bless you.

PROGRESSION OF EVENTS
A. God led the Hebrew out of Egypt towards the Red sea. Vs. 13:17,19.

B. The people were led by a pillar of cloud by day and of fire by night Vs. 13:21-22.

C. Pharaoh and his army chased the child of Israel to the Red Sea Vs. 14:1-9 (They did so because Pharaoh heart was hard towards God because of sin and he was still not willing to admit his sin. our heart also is hard towards sin from birth. Jeremiah 17:9 says the heart is desperately wicked. Your sin separates you from God for God is holy. But God loves you in spite of your sin so He gave His son to die for your sin John 3:16. Jesus died so you can be saved, He came alive the third day. I John 1:7b You can believe on Him and be forgiven forever).

D. As they saw the approaching armies of Egypt, the Israelites panicked they were greatly afraid. Vs 14:10-12.

E. Moses encouraged his people to trust God’s plan for them Vs. 14:13-14. F. God told Moses how to open the way of escape, Moses stretched out his hand as God instructed, and the sea divided and they passed though the Egyptians followed Israel into the, but God caused the water to return and destroy them as Moses stretched his hand again. Vs 14:21-28.

CLIMAX: The Israelites were saved, they believed God and greatly rejoice Vs. 29-30. Then Moses, Miriam celebrated song of praise as gratitude to God Exodus 15:1-21.

CONCLUSION: There are many reasons why you should show gratitude to God through song of praises Psalm 147:1-20 gave many reasons why you should sing praises to God. (The teacher should read Psalm 147:1-20 and list some of the reasons).

CHALLENGE: Give some reasons why you should always sing praises to God as gratitude to Him daily. Now sing one song to appreciate Him now.
INVITATION: You need Jesus as your Saviour. Receive Him now as your deliverer Romans 10:13.

LESSON TWENTY ONE (21)
TOPIC: HOW TO EXPRESS OUR GRATITUDE 2:
THROUGH THANKSGIVING, PRAYER SACRIFICIAL OFFERING (CASH OR KIND).

BIBLE TEXT 2 CHRONICLE 20:1-30

MEMORY VERSE: 1 Thessalonian 5:16-18 “Rejoice always pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you”.

LESSON AIM: Praise is powerful.

CHILD RELATED TRUTH: Praise God in all situation.

INTRODUCTION: Thanksgiving and praise are powerful weapon. In showing gratitude to God through thanksgiving. prayer and sacrificial giving. God is pleased and He takes over all other problems and challenges we may have, so even in difficult situations we can use our praises and thanksgiving as a weapon. When we pray God sends angel but when we praise God comes down by Himself Psalm 22:3 God enthrones the praise of His people.

PROGRESSION OF EVENTS
A. The people of Moab, Ammon and Syria gathered against Judah to battle against Jehoshaphat. Vs. I (They must have envied or hated the children of God and want to destroy them. Hate is a sin Psalm 51:5 says we are all born in sin. Romans 6:23 says the wages of sin is death. God does not want you to die in your sin because He loves you so He gave His son Jesus to take away the punishment of your sin. John 3:16, Jesus died, buried and rose again to save you from sin IJohn 1:7. To be saved believe in Jesus John 1:12).

B. And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the Lord, and proclaimed a fast throughout Judah and all judah gathered to ask help from the Lord, they all came to seek the Lord vs. 2-3. (They recognized God as their only helper and they prayed, when you know that God is your only help in need and you depend on Him is a sort of gratitude only a grateful heart that can remember their source of strength and always stick to it).

C. So Jehoshaphat stood in the Assembly of Judah and Jerusalem in the house of the Lord and said “Lord, God of our Fathers are you not the God of Heaven…… .”. He worships God and remind Him of all His past goodness and mercies He has shown to Israel as a people and of His greatness and power Vs 5-13 (This is thanksgiving and worship. Can you thank God and worship Him in time of trouble? Jehoshaphat thanked the Lord and worshipped Him even when nations gathered against him).

D. Then God spoke to them through Jhaziel that they should not fear and will not need to fight in this battle, but to wait and see the salvation of the Lord Vs. 15-17.

E. The Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground and bowed before the Lord, worshipping the Lord vs.18 (Jehoshphat worshipped God with a grateful heart. Always worshipped in all situation and circumstance and you will see God move on your behalf as He did for Jehoshaphat and Israelite).

F. The Levites of the children of the Kohathites and of the children of Korahites stood up to praise the Lord God of Israel with voices loud and high Vs. 18

G. Jehoshaphat encouraged the people of Judah and said to them “Believe in the Lord your God and you shall be established believe His Prophets and you shall prosper”. And he appointed those who should sing to the Lord and who should praise the beauty of holiness as they went out before the army and were saying “Praise the Lord, for His mercy endures forever” Vs 19:21.

CLIMAX: As they began to sing and to praise the Lord they set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab and Mount Seir who come against Judah and they were defeated. Vs22-23.

CONCLUSION: So when Judah came to overlook the wilderness they saw that the multitude were all dead and fallen on the earth. And the people of Judah and Jerusalem with joy for the Lord had made them rejoice over their enemies. And the realm of Jehoshaphat was quiet, for his God gave him rest all around. Vs 24- 30 (The people of Judah and Jerusalem used thanksgiving, prayer and praises to defeat their enemies. When you praise God from your grateful heart God takes over your battles).

CHALLENGE: Learn to use prayer, worship, praise and song from grateful heart as weapon against all challenges of life.

INVITATION: For God to inhabit your praises you must have Jesus as your Savior. Receive Jesus as your Savior today Romans 10:13.

LESSON TWENTY TWO (22)
TOPIC:TOPIC: HOW TO EXPRESS OUR GRATITUDE THROUGH 3: DANCING AND BODY LANGUAGE

BIBLE TEXT: 2 Samuel 6:1-14, Psalm 149

MEMORY VERSE: Psalm 149:3a “Let them praise His name with the dance”.

LESSON AIM: God gave you your entire body part to praise Him. Revelation 4:11.

CHILD RELATED TRUTH: Give God pleasure by dancing to show Him your gratitude.

INTRODUCTION: Dancing is a beautiful way of giving God gratitude, He created you wonderfully for His Pleasures Revelation 4:11. David sings and dances before God to appreciate Him and God is pleased with him. You too should always rejoice and dance before your maker as a sign of gratitude to all of His goodness and mercies.

PROGRESSION OF EVENTS
A. David gathered all the choice men of Israel, thirty thousand. Vs I B. And David rose and went with all the people from Baale Judah to bring from there the Ark of God so the set it on a new cart and brought it out of the house of Abinadab Vs. 2-4.

C. Then David and all the house of Israel played music before the Lord on all kinds of instruments. And when they came Nachon threshing floor Uzaiah put out his hand to the Ark of God and took hold of it for the oxen stumbled Vs 5-6.

D. Then the anger of the Lord was aroused against Uzzah and God struck him there for his error and he died there by the Ark of God. Vs. 7-8. (Sin also arouse the anger of God, what is sin? Whatever you do that displeases God. Example: lying, fighting, stealing, and disobeying. The punishment for sin is separation from God Romans 3:23, 26:23. God loves you and want to save you from sin so He gave His perfect son Jesus John 3:16. Jesus died, gave His blood and rose the third day. I John 1:7. If you believe in Him your sin will be forgiven forever.)

E. And he was angry for the Lords outbreak against Uzzah. He said “How can the ark of the Lord come to me? So he could not bring the ark of God with him to the city of David, but too it aside to the house of Obed-Edom the Crittite” Vs 8-10.

F. The ark of the Lord remains in the house of Obed-Edom the Crittite for three months and the Lord blessed Obed-Edom and his household. When he heard that the Lord blessed Obed-Edom so David went and brought the ark of the God from the house of Obed-Edom to the city of David with gladness. Vs 11-12.

CLIMAX: And so it was when the bearer of ark of God had moved six

paces, David sacrificed Oxen and fattened sheep. Then David danced before the Lord with all his might and David was wearing a linen Ephod. Vs 13-14 (Even in David’s kingship rope “a linen Ephod” he danced with all his might before the Lord, he humbled himself. Do you dance before the Lord with all your might? God wants you to humble yourself and sincerely with pure heart show your gratitude to him).

CONCLUSION: So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the Lord with shouting and with sound of trumpet. Vs 15

CHALLENGE: Psalm 149 says that children of Zion should be joyful in their king and let them praise the name of the Lord with dance. Let the saints be joyful in glory let them sing aloud in their beds. As God’s children always sing and dance to the Lord at any time

at anywhere. INVITATION: To experience the joy of the Lord, receive Jesus as your savior today. Acts 16:31.

LESSON TWENTY THREE (23)
TOPIC: GOD THE FATHER DELIGHTS IN A GRATEFUL HEART

BIBLE TEXT: NEHEMIAH 9:6 PSALM 103

LESSON AIM: God the father deservers your gratitude.

CHILD RELATED TRUTH: Give thanks to God for everything He made.

INTRODUCTION: God the Father is the creator Gen 1:1, He is the absolute owner of everything.

PROGRESSION OF EVENTS
A. Give God the Father your gratitude by first remembering that He created the heavens and the earth and He made you in His perfect image. He gave you your body and mind so you could use them to worship Him and to praise Him.

B. You can use your mind to think about God;

  1. Your heart to love Him for who He is and all He has done
  2. Your mouth to praise Him by felling Him and other how wonderful He is (what are some thing you can praise him for? Allow a brief time for testimonies by children and praise on what God has done for them and they can praise Him for.)
  3. You can use your hands to play songs of praise on musical instruments write poem about His greatness or draw picture of His beautiful creature and to clap for Him in praise.
  4. You can use your feet to dance like David danced to praise God, you can also use your feet to go to places to tell other about his wonderful love witness (What are the place you can tell other about His love? let the children respond; Sunday school, children church, good news club, school, your neighborhood and everywhere accompanied by elderly person)
  5. You can use your eye to notice what He has made
  6. You can use your ears to hear beautiful sound of His creature and listen to other as they praise Him. You can remind yourself as David did that you should always have a grateful heart.

C. You show God the Father your grateful heart by remembering the things He has done and will do.

  1. God forgave your sins and gave you salvation Vs 3.12 (by the gift of His Son Jesus Christ).
  2. He gave you physical healing vs 3
  3. Protects you from danger v
  4. His loving kindness v
  5. Daily provision v5 6. Helps you in opposition v6
  6. Patience and correction v8,v9

D. You show God the Father your grateful heart when you realize how wonderful He is.

  1. God’s greatness, wonder and miracles are from of merciful and as our father He knows our weaknesses, He is everlasting.
  2. God the Father is to be praised by telling Him how much you appreciate His greatness and beauty and all that he does for you.
  3. You thank God for the thing He has given to you. The more you study and learn His word, the more you study and must show God the Father your grateful heart

CLIMAX: David gave His grateful worship to God the Father. Vs 20:22

CONCLUSION: When David finished remembering all about God, he was filled with praise and called upon angels and other created beings on earth to help him tell God how wonderful He is Vs 20:22 He repeatedly praised and worshipped God Vs 20:22 (you too have to always show your gratitude to God the Father).

CHALLENGE: Always take time to show gratitude to God the Father through worship, praise and giving thanks. Always remember what God has done for you, and who He is, think of how best you can show Him your grateful heart and cause other to understand His greatness too, talk to Him and tell Him how wonderful He is and How much you appreciate all He has done.

INVITATION: How awful it is to ignore someone who has been so very kind and loving to you. If you have not receive Jesus as your savior, you are ignoring God’s goodness to you. So why don’t you receive his gift of Jesus as your savio now. Romans 10:13.

LESSON TWENTY FOUR (24)
TOPIC: GOD THE SON DELIGHT IN A GRATEFUL HEART.

BIBLE TEXT: LUKE 17:11-19

MEMORY VERSE: Romans 5:8c “While we were yet sinner Christ died for us”.

LESSON AIM: Jesus deserves your gratitude.

CHILD RELATED TRUTH: Thank Jesus always for this wonderful love.

INTRODUCTION: Jesus Christ is God the Son who existed with God from eternity John 10:30. He is the Saviour of the world sent by God John 3:16. He is God in bodily form Col.2:9, 1 Timothy 3:16. He gave His blood to save you from sin, died, buried and rose the third day. I John 1:7. He is your greatest friend, so He deserves your gratitude.

PROGRESSION OF EVENTS
A. Now it happened as He went to Jerusalem that He passed the midst of Samaria and Galilee.

B. He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers who stood afar off. (Leprosy is a terrible disease that is infectious lepers are not allow to live with other people because of their condition, the same way if you have sin in your life you are spiritually separated from God and God’s children. What is sin? Anything you do, think or say that displeases God. Roman 3:23)

C. And they lifted up their voice and said Jesus, master, have mercy on us. And when He saw them, He said unto them “Go show yourself unto the priest “and as they went they were cleanse. (Jesus loved them and had compassion on them, so healed them of their leprosy. The same way God loves you and wants you to be saved from your sins, so he gave you his son Jesus Christ who died on the cross and gave His blood to wash away your sins. John 3:16. The leper received their healing, you too can be saved from your sin if you receive Jesus the son of God as your savior).

D. And one of them when he saw that he was healed, turned back and with a loud voice glorified God. (One of the cleansed leper returned to Jesus with a grateful heart and glorified Jesus with a loud voice).

CLIMAX: And Jesus answering “Were there not ten cleansed, but where are the nine? There are not found that returned to give glory to God save the stranger” (God the son Jesus Christ desire that you give thanks to him as he is your savior, he gave his precious blood to save you from your sins).

CONCLUSION: And he said unto him “Arise, go thy way thy faith hath faith made thee whole. (for showing grateful heart the leper received more than expectation, he got wholeness, when you show gratitude to God, He give you more).

CHALLENGE: Jesus Christ is your greatest benefactor and friend, He died for you so you can be saved from your sin Romans 5:6-8 while we are yet sinners Christ died for us. Jesus deserves your gratitude as a show appreciation. How do you show Him gratitude? Let the children discuss.

INVITATION: The best way to show gratitude to Jesus is to be sure that His precious blood is not wasted or in vain by believing in Him as your Saviour. John 1:12.
