RCCG LOWER JUNIOR ZEAL FOR 2023/2024
AGE 4-5 TEACHER’S MANUAL
SUNDAY 21ST OF JULY, 2024
LESSON FORTY SEVEN (47)
TOPIC: CONSEQUENCES OF AN UNGRATEFUL HEART 2: UNFRUITFULNESS

BIBLE TEXT: 2 SAMUEL 6:16-23
[16]And as the ark of the LORD came into the city of David, Michal Saul’s daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the LORD; and she despised him in her heart.
[17]And they brought in the ark of the LORD, and set it in his place, in the midst of the tabernacle that David had pitched for it: and David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the LORD.
[18]And as soon as David had made an end of offering burnt offerings and peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD of hosts.
[19]And he dealt among all the people, even among the whole multitude of Israel, as well to the women as men, to every one a cake of bread, and a good piece of flesh, and a flagon of wine. So all the people departed every one to his house.
[20]Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, How glorious was the king of Israel to day, who uncovered himself to day in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself!
[21]And David said unto Michal, It was before the LORD, which chose me before thy father, and before all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the LORD, over Israel: therefore will I play before the LORD.
[22]And I will yet be more vile than thus, and will be base in mine own sight: and of the maidservants which thou hast spoken of, of them shall I be had in honour.
[23]Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no child unto the day of her death.

MEMORY VERSE: Psalm 67:5-6 “Let the people praise you o God, let all the people praise you. Then the earth shall yield her increase”

LESSON AIM: God wants you to be fruitful.

CHILD RELATED TRUTH: to be fruitful always give God gratitude.

INTRODUCTION: At creation God said to man “Be fruitful and multiply, fill the earth and subdue it”. Gen.1:28 God is so much interested in your fruitfulness, the only reason you can be unfruitful as a child of God is if you are ungrateful. Fruitfulness is more than child bearing only God wants you to be fruitful mentally, physically, emotionally, financially and spiritually.

PROGRESSION OF EVENTS
A. Now as the ark of the Lord came into the city of David. Michal Saul’s daughter looked through a window and saw King David leaping and whirling before the Lord; and she despised him in her heart. Vs 16 (Το despise someone is to look down on somebody with derogatory words. This comes from pride and it is a sin. Romans 3:23 says we have all sin you might have done the same thing to someone or do some other things. Sin separates you from God. God does not want you be separated from Him or be punished for your sin, He gave His Son Jesus to take the punishment of your sin John 3:16. Jesus died, gave His blood and He rose again. Hebrew 9:13, you can have your sin forgiven if you receive Jesus as your Saviour John 1:12).

B. So they brought the Ark of the Lord, and set it in its place in the tabernacle that David had erected for it. And he offered burnt offering and peace offering before the Lord Vs. 17.

C. Then he distributed among all the people, the whole multitude of Israel men and women to everyone loaf of bread, a piece of meat and a cake of raisins. So all the people departed everyone to his house Vs. 19.

D. Then David return to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of King Saul came out to meet him and said, “How glorious was the King of Israel today uncovering himself today in the eyes of the maids of his servants as
one of the base fellows shamelessly uncovering himself” (How ungrateful could Michal be to despise her husband king David for showing gratitude to God for helping Israel to recover the Ark of Covenant and returning it back it Jerusalem. Michal was greatly punished by God with unfruitfulness. She died childless, unfruitful, there are other forms of unfruitfulness. You must always be grateful to God for everything, even for the smallest things that. God has done for your and do not despise others).

E. So David said to Michal, “It was before the Lord who choose me instead of your father and all his house to appoint me ruler over the people of the Lord over Israel. Therefore I will play music before the Lord”. Vs21

CLIMAX: And I will be even more undignified than this, and I will be humble in my own sight, but as for the maid servants of whom you have spoken, by them I a will be held in honor. Vs 22 (do not allow how others will perceive you not show grateful heart to God, by signing or dancing to appreciate God. Always humble yourself in God’s presence and show Him gratitude either openly or privately).

CONCLUSION: Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no children to the day of her death. (What a great punishment for showing ungrateful heart to God instead of Michal to join her husband to dance and appreciate God, she despised him and rebuke him. Always appreciate God with a grateful heart and encourage others to do so).

CHALLENGE: Think and Thank God for the greatest and the smallest thing He has done for you with a grateful heart. Never be ashamed to thank God wherever you here not minding who is present. God is pleased with gratefula hearts. Ingratitude to God attracts punishment. God want you to be fruitful so appreciate Him always.

INVITATION: Receive Jesus as your Lord and Saviour today Acts 16:31.
