LESSON TWENTY (20)
TOPIC: HOW TO EXPRESS OUR GRATITUDE 1: THROUGH SINGING PRAISES TO GOD
BIBLE TEXT: PSALM 98.
[1](A Psalm.) O sing unto the LORD a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory.
[2]The LORD hath made known his salvation: his righteousness hath he openly shewed in the sight of the heathen.
[3]He hath remembered his mercy and his truth toward the house of Israel: all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.
[4]Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.
[5]Sing unto the LORD with the harp; with the harp, and the voice of a psalm.
[6]With trumpets and sound of cornet make a joyful noise before the LORD, the King.
[7]Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.
[8]Let the floods clap their hands: let the hills be joyful together
[9]Before the LORD; for he cometh to judge the earth: with righteousness shall he judge the world, and the people with equity.
MEMORY VERSE: Psalm 147:1 “Praise ye the Lord! For it is good to sing praises unto our God; For it is pleasant, and praise is comely.
LESSON AIM: The children will express the reasons why the Lord deserves praise and learn to give Him praises.
CHILD-RELATED TRUTH: God delights in your praises.
INTRODUCTION Children! Let us sing a praise song unto the Lord (let the children raise a praise song and let them sing it). Do you know that praise songs are ways in which we can express our gratitude to God for all that He does for us? We praise God with music, but other things in nature praise God as well. The waves of the sea crashing upon the shore are praise songs to God. The stars praise God at night by twinkling, sparkling and shining. Let us look at how and why we should praise God.
PROGRESSION OF EVENT 1. Sing songs to the Lord for the wonderful things He has done and the victory He gained with His holy arms and right hand.
- The Lord has done the most wonderful thing for us by creating a way for the whole world to have salvation.
- God is faithful to all the earth and the whole earth praises Him.
- The Lord commands the whole earth to praise Him with rejoicing and joyful shout 5.. There are different instruments like the harp, trumpet, horn, and others to praise the Lord.
GOSPEL CONNECTION: The only proper way to express our gratitude to God through singing praises and worshipping is by surrendering to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
CLIMAX: Our God is the God of the whole world and expects all of His creation to praise Him.
CONCLUSION: God is a good and fair judge and deserves praise for His righteousness.
CHALLENGE: As children of God, here is a verse to think about, (1 Chronicles 16:23 “Sing to the Lord, all the earth; Proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day.”). So what should we do? We should be singing to the Lord and proclaiming His salvation. It means we should tell others that Jesus came to save them. These are the things God is glad to hear. He tunes in to us like He is tuning a radio station when He hears your song.
CARRY-OVER ACTIVITY: This week, sing praises to God for everything.
INVITATION: Call on the name of the Lord and be saved for God to delight in your praises (Romans 10:13).
