RCCG LOWER JUNIOR ZEAL FOR 2023/2024
AGE 4-5 TEACHER’S MANUAL
SUNDAY 22ND OF SEPTEMBER, 2024
LESSON FOUR (4)
TOPIC: THE SANCTIFIER: JESUS

BIBLE TEXT: John 4:5-20
[5]Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
[6]Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.
[7]There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.
[8](For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)
[9]Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
[10]Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
[11]The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
[12]Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?
[13]Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
[14]But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
[15]The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.
[16]Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.
[17]The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband:
[18]For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly.
[19]The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
[20]Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.

MEMORY VERSE: John 14:6 “I am the way the truth and the life no man comes into the father but by me”.

LESSON AIM: Jesus Christ is the Sanctifier.

CHILD RELATED TRUTH: Jesus can lead you to the father.

INTRODUCTION: Jesus Christ is God the son. He is eternal and existed with God the Father from eternity. in Genesis 1:26 “God said let us make man in our image, after our likeness.” God was referring to the Trinity, God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ) and God the Holy Spirit. Jesus came to world in human form to save us our sins. He died on the cross he gave His blood, died, buried and rose the third day and went back to heaven. He is our sanctifier: we will look at His vivid account with the Samaritan woman at the well.

PROGRESSION OF EVENT
A. After preaching in Judea, Jesus decided to return to Galilee (vs 1-3).
B. He needed to pass through Samaria (vs 4-5)
C. Jesus sat by a well while the disciples went into the city. When a Samaritan woman came for water, Jesus ask her for a drink. (Vs 6-8).
D. Surprised, the woman could not understand how He, being a Jew would ask her for a drink v: 9 (their custom forbids public conversation between men and women who are strangers and especially between Jews and Samaritans) she did not know that the man speaking to her was different from others. He was Jesus the perfect Son of God. As God’s son He loves everyone. 1John 4:8 God is love. He loves you and me, so He sent His son Jesus to save us from sin, He is our sanctifier.
E. Jesus said to her if they know the gift of God and who it is who says to you, “give me a drink, “you would have ask Him and he would have given you living water. Vs 10 (Jesus talk about water of salvation).
F. The woman misunderstood when Jesus assured her that if she knew who He was she would ask for living water. “Vs 10-15 (she understood “living water” as that which was at the deepest part of the well. But Jesus spoke about the water of everlasting life which only he could give because he is our saviour and sanctifier. Whosoever drink from this water, all who believe the gospel will be satisfied forever).
G. Jesus challenged to woman to consider her own sinful condition by instructing her to bring her husband vs 16-18. (she said she has no husband, even then she stayed with five men and even the sixth one she is with is not her husband, she needs to realize she is a sinner admit her sin so that she be saved. you and i have sinned and the bible says the wages of sin is death (separation from God) Rom. 6:23, 3:26 for you to be saved, you must admit you are sinner, that you lie, fight, disobey etc.
H. The woman tried to change the TOPIC and even perceived Jesus is a prophet and she talked of a place of worship vs 19-21.
I. Jesus said to her you worship what you do not know and those who worship God must worship Him in truth and in spirit and the hour is now. 22-24
J. Then the woman told Jesus that the coming messiah would explain these things, He said, I am He. 25, 26 (the woman was face to face with the saviour of the world, the Messiah and the sanctified Messiah means the “promised one” Jesus is the perfect son of God who came to the world, died buried, but did not stay died 1 Corinthians 15: 3-4. He rose from the grace as sin of you and I)

CLIMAX: Immediately the woman believed that Jesus was truly the Messiah, she excitedly ran to the city to tell others about him 27-29

CONCLUSION: Then they went out of the city and came unto Jesus. (She was saved and sanctified, so she became an evangelist)

INVITATION: When the woman met with Jesus she was a sinner and she did not know who Jesus was but once she knew, she ask for the living waters. You have heard the word of God will you also ask Jesus to save you from your sin? Roman 10:1

CHALLENGE: The Samaritan woman did not only got saved, she ran to the city to call others who came to meet Jesus. As a child of God after you are saved allow Jesus to use you to call others to Him, do the work of an evangelist as a sanctified vessel.
