RCCG LOWER JUNIOR ZEAL FOR 2023/2024
AGE 4-5 TEACHER’S MANUAL
SUNDAY 15TH OF SEPTEMBER, 2024
LESSON THREE (3)
TOPIC: THE SANCTIFIER: GOD

BIBLE TEXT: Genesis 12
[1]Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
[2]And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
[3]And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
[4]So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.
[5]And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother’s son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came.
[6]And Abram passed through the land unto the place of Sichem, unto the plain of Moreh. And the Canaanite was then in the land.
[7]And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him.
[8]And he removed from thence unto a mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Hai on the east: and there he builded an altar unto the LORD, and called upon the name of the LORD.
[9]And Abram journeyed, going on still toward the south.
[10]And there was a famine in the land: and Abram went down into Egypt to sojourn there; for the famine was grievous in the land.
[11]And it came to pass, when he was come near to enter into Egypt, that he said unto Sarai his wife, Behold now, I know that thou art a fair woman to look upon:
[12]Therefore it shall come to pass, when the Egyptians shall see thee, that they shall say, This is his wife: and they will kill me, but they will save thee alive.
[13]Say, I pray thee, thou art my sister: that it may be well with me for thy sake; and my soul shall live because of thee.
[14]And it came to pass, that, when Abram was come into Egypt, the Egyptians beheld the woman that she was very fair.
[15]The princes also of Pharaoh saw her, and commended her before Pharaoh: and the woman was taken into Pharaoh’s house.
[16]And he entreated Abram well for her sake: and he had sheep, and oxen, and he asses, and menservants, and maidservants, and she asses, and camels.
[17]And the LORD plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai Abram’s wife.
[18]And Pharaoh called Abram, and said, What is this that thou hast done unto me? why didst thou not tell me that she was thy wife?
[19]Why saidst thou, She is my sister? so I might have taken her to me to wife: now therefore behold thy wife, take her, and go thy way.
[20]And Pharaoh commanded his men concerning him: and they sent him away, and his wife, and all that he had.

MEMORY VERSE: 2 Corinthians 6:17 “Come out from among them and be separate says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you”.

LESSON AIM: God is the Sanctifier

CHILD RELATED TRUTH: God wants you to be clean unto Him.

INTRODUCTION: God is the creator Genesis 1:1 Nehemiah 9:6, Job 26:7, Hebrew 11:3. He is the absolute owner of everything: He is all powerful, performs wonders and miracles job 5:9, Luke 1:37. His power is without limit and He is sovereign, rules over all, Psalm 93:1-2, 2 Chronicles 20:6 Exodus 15:11, so every power must summit to Him. Above all God is Holy – Isaiah 6:3, Psalm 99:5, He is pure and perfect, He is always right and Good and He wants all His children to be holy, so He is our sanctifier. He says be holy for I am holy. (1 Peter 1:16). He called out Abraham out of his idolatry family and blessed him.

PROGRESSION OF EVENTS
A. God called Abram to leave his own country and go to where He will show him 12:1. (Abraham is from Ur it was a busy place with many rich people with gold, silver, and precious jewels, there were temples or worshiping idols one large temple was built in the honour of ” MOON God” Abraham father Terah was one of those who worshiped idols at the temple in Ur. Perhaps Abraham worshiped idols, but one day something happened that totally changed his Life) Worshiping idols is a sin Exodus 20:3 says” that you shall have no other Gods before me” you too may have one sin in your life. It may not be idolatry but stealing, fighting, lying, disobeying etc. Romans 3:23, God wants you to separate yourself from sin and to be clean).
B. God promised to bless Abraham and make him great and a blessing to other nations 12:2,3 (God promised to bless Abram because He loves him the same way God loves you and does not want you to perish in your sin, He wants to bless you with eternal life. John 3:16)
C. Abram obeyed God, travelling with Sarai his wife, Terah his father, and lot his late brother’s son (his Nephew) to Haran where his father died 11:31-32
D. Abram and his family continue on to Canaan, where the Lord appeared and renewed His promise to Abram, then they continued south 12:4-9
E. During famine Abram went to Egypt fearing the Egyptian would kill him and take his wife Sarai, he told Sarai to lie saying she was his sister 12:10-13
F. Sarai was taken to Pharaoh’s house but the lord plagued Pharaoh and he discovered she was Abram’s wife 12:14-17
G. Pharaoh angrily ordered Abram and his family to leave Egypt, so they returned to bethel and again worshiped the lord. 12:18-13:4
H. God later renewed His covenant with Abram, including the promise of a son, and Abram believed God 15: 1-6
I. Sarai tried to intervene by having her maid bear a child for Abram 16:1- 4,15
J. When Abram was 99 years old, God renewed His covenant with him, changed their names to Abraham and Sarah and renewed His promises to give them a son through Sarah, 17:1-8, 15-16.

CLIMAX: God the sanctifier Himself called out Abraham to come of his idolatry background.

CONCLUSION: Abraham was sanctified and God fulfilled His promises to him

INVITATION: If you will obey God like Abraham God will save you from inherited sinful nature and set you apart for His purpose and blessings John 3:36

CHALLENGE: God blessed all the nations of the earth through Abraham. As a child of God if you will separate yourself unto God and do not walk or sit in the counsel of the ungodly God, will bless you and through you many will be blessed. Psalm 1:1.
