LESSON AIM: At the end of the study, teenagers should understand the benefits of having a pure heart.
CENTRAL TRUTH: Blessed are the pure in heart.
INTRODUCTION: The heart is that spiritual part of us where our emotions and desires dwell. The human heart, in its natural condition, is evil, treacherous and deceitful Jeremiah 17:9. Our minds, emotions and desires have been tainted by sin. Jesus pointed out the fallen condition of our hearts in Mark 7:21- 23: “From within, out of men’s hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and make a person impure. In order for a person to be saved, then, the heart must be changed. This only happens by the power of God in response to faith. “With the heart one believes unto righteousness” – Romans 10:10. God, in His Mercy can create a new heart within us Psalm 51:10, Ezekiel 36:26. The heart is the core of our being, and the Bible sets great importance on keeping our hearts pure: “Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life” – Proverbs 4:23.

LIFE APPLICATION: Attaining purity in heart is not a one- time achievement; it’s a daily choice, to surrender, confess every known fault and repent, be willing to change and become better, in line with God’s word and will.
CONCLUSION: God certainly can indicate supernaturally which job or career path we should pursue. More typically, however, He calls us to take responsibility for making good decisions about how to use our gifts in the world.
Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God – Matthew 5:8. Human beings look on the outward but God looks and judge men on the basis of the inward parts. Men can pretend on the outward but not inwardly, so if we would indeed know and have a relationship with God on Earth and go forward to be with Him in glory at the end of our sojourn here, we must be pure in heart.
