RCCG LOWER JUNIOR ZEAL FOR 2024/2025
AGE 6-8 TEACHER’S MANUAL
SUNDAY 29TH OF SEPTEMBER, 2024
LESSON FIVE (5)
TOPIC: THE SANCTIFIER: HOLY SPIRIT

BIBLE TEXT: John 14:16-17
[16]And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
[17]Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

MEMORY VERSE: 2 Thessalonians 2:13 “But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord because God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth”

LESSON AIM: The children will understand that it is only God that can send the Holy Spirit to dwell in them

CHILD-RELATED TRUTH: God wants you to rely on Jesus for the Holy Spirit

INTRODUCTION: Wonderful Children of God! How many of you have ever done something wrong? How many of you felt sorry about it? How many of you have ever been brave when you could have been afraid? How many of you need help making the right decisions? (Give room for answers) If you answered yes to any of the above questions, you may have had a little help from the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit, you say? Who is He anyway? What does He do? Let us discover more about Him today.

PROGRESSION OF EVENT: JOHN 14:16-17

  1. Jesus promises to send the Holy Spirit to be with us after He ascends to heaven.
  2. The Holy Spirit is our Helper, who comes alongside us to guide and support us in our walk with God.
  3. The Holy Spirit leads us into all truth, helping us understand God’s Word and His will for our lives.
  4. He helps us know right from wrong and guides us in making wise decisions. 5. The Holy Spirit is a gift reserved for those who believe in Jesus as their Savior.

GOSPEL CONNECTION: How do you believe in Jesus as Savior? To believe in Jesus as Savior, you need to know that God loves you and me and does not want us to perish in our sins so He sent Jesus into the world to take the punishment we deserve for our sins. Jesus died a shameful death on the cross, was buried and He came alive on the third day. He becomes your Savior when you ask for forgiveness of your sins. (1 Corinthians 15:3-4)

CLIMAX: The Holy Spirit lives in us, empowering us to live as children of God and to bear witness to Jesus’ love and truth.

CONCLUSION: God’s Spirit is always with us to comfort, guide, and empower us.

CHALLENGE: Having the Holy Spirit means you always have God’s presence. The Spirit will help you to understand and carry out God’s will. God’s will is that all would come to know Him and serve Him. You can glorify God by helping others know who He is and how He impacts us

CARRY-OVER ACTIVITY: Let the Holy Spirit guide you

INVITATION: Before you can have the Holy Spirit, you need to call upon the Lord and be saved (Romans 10:13)
