LESSON INTRODUCTION: Some People think that it is not possible to live righteously in this perverse world. However, the Bible admonishes believers in Christ to make righteousness a way of life (Philippians 4:8-9) God instructed Abram to walk up rightly (Genesis 17:1) just as Job admitted that if anyone continues on the way of righteousness, their our lives will get better and shine brighter (Job 17:9; Proverbs 4:18). It is, therefore, important for us to understand what it means to live a righteous life and its attendant benefits.
LESSON OUTLINES
- UNDERSTANDING A RIGHTEOUS LIFE
- THE POWER OF RIGHTEOUS LIVING
1. UNDERSTANDING A RIGHTEOUS LIFE
Righteousness is ‘the character or quality of being right or just.’ It refers to the state of one who is as he ought to be before God and man (Acts 10:35; 24:16). It is holy and upright living by God’s standard. Righteousness reviews genuine salvation (1John 2:29). Works of righteousness include love for each other (1John 3:10). It produces spiritual and visible fruit (Matthew 7:16). We must leave the kind of life that reflects Jesus Christ everyday (Philippians 2:5; 4:8).
Righteousness comes through faith in Jesus Christ (Philippians 3:9). This is because God’s character is the source of all righteousness (Genesis 18:25; Romans 9:14) and it takes great pleasure in righteousness (Jeremiah 9:24). Righteousness require a voluntary change (Ephesians 4:24). It combat sin (Psalm 119:10-11). It’s requires discipline as productive (Hebrews 12:11).
2. THE POWER OF RIGHTEOUS LIVING
Righteous living makes you a partner with the Almighty God (Genesis 18:17-19) and the moment you become God’s partner, certain things will begin to run away from you this includes sickness, and diseases (Exodus 15:26), Devourers (Malachi 3:10-11), sorrow (Proverbs 10:22), and fear (Proverbs 28:1).
Also, righteous living attract certain things to you this includes:
- The good of the Land (Isaiah 1:18-19)
- Overwhelming blessings (Deuteronomy 28:1-2)
- Victory without a fight (Deuteronomy 28:7)
- Continuous success (Psalm 92:12; Jeremiah 17:7-8)
- Dominion (Deuteronomy 28:9-10,13).
- living in abundance Deuteronomy 30:9; Leviticus 26:4).
- Answer to prayers (1Peter 3:12)
- Eternal life (Matthew 25:46).

RCCG Sunday School HYMN
- O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
O how I love Thee well,
I am happy, it makes me glad
To rejoice at Thy birth. - O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
Thy friendship suits me well,
Both young and old will sing Thy song,
We long for Sunday School. - O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
Christ was Thy first teacher,
The Holy Spirit, great teacher,
Does manifest in thee. - O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
This testimony is sure,
That God, the Father Almighty,
Poured His blessing on Thee. - O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
Though the sun be so bright,
Or if the clouds black with rain,
I’ll be in Sunday School. - O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
I rejoice to see Thee,
Will thou pass over me today?
Without my being blest?
