TOPIC: Shine In Glory
BIBLE TEXT: Daniel 1:15-20
15 And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children which did eat the portion of the king’s meat.
16 Thus Melzar took away the portion of their meat, and the wine that they should drink; and gave them pulse.
17 As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.
18 Now at the end of the days that the king had said he should bring them in, then the prince of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar.
19 And the king communed with them; and among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: therefore stood they before the king.
20 And in all matters of wisdom and understanding, that the king enquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his realm.

MEMORY VERSE: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” – Matthew 5:16
LESSON AIM: Let them know that God wants them to shine
CENTRAL TRUTH: You too can shine for God.
INTRODUCTION: One of the reasons God created us is to shine in his glory. And if God our Father is glorious, then we, His children must be glorious too. Gen 1:26 We are to bring glory to His name continually. This is a form of worship and service unto the Lord. Rom. 12:1.
STUDY GUIDE:
Let us look at our text for today:
1 Daniel was taken as a slave into the palace of Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon. Daniel himself was a Prince. Dan. 1:3.
2 Daniel was well brought up, he was skillful in all wisdom and very brilliant. This means that he came from a wealthy background. Dan. 1:4
3 Daniel also had understanding of the God of Israel. He had a good relationship with God. That was why he made up his mind that he wasn’t going to defile himself with the portion of the portion of the kings meat.
Question: What is wrong with eating and drinking with unbelievers?
4 God was with Daniel and he obtained favour before the eunuchs when he requested for only pulse to eat and water to drink.
5 After ten days, Daniel and his friends appeared fairer and fatter than all the children which did eat the portion of the king’s meat.
6 The king found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers in his kingdom.
For you to shine in glory:
1 You must mind your association. 1 Cor. 15:33; Rom. 16:17
2 Flee all appearances of evil. 1 Thess. 5:22.
3 Have a good understanding of the God you serve. Dan. 11:32.
4 Be very prayerful like Daniel.
5 Psalm 24:3-4 – You must be holy
6 Joshua 1:8 – Read, study and meditate on the Word of God.
DISCUSSION: Discuss the attributes or characteristics and give examples of someone that shines in God’s glory.
INVITATION/APPLICATION: You too can shine in glory for God. Take the step of Daniel today and God will give you the grace and power to shine for Him.
CONCLUSION: A great lesson to learn from our study today is that, for God to shine His glory through you, you will be tried and tested. A man that is shining in God’s glory will be preferred above others.
PRAYER: Father, Let me shine for you.

Sunday School Hymn
- O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
O how I love Thee well,
I am happy, it makes me glad
To rejoice at Thy birth. - O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
Thy friend friendship suits me well,
Both young and old will sing Thy song,
We long for Sunday School. - O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
Christ was Thy first teacher,
The Holy Spirit, great teacher,
Does manifest in thee. - O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
This testimony is sure,
That God, the Father Almighty,
Poured His blessing on Thee. - O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
Though the sun be so bright,
Or if the clouds be black with rain,
I’ll be in Sunday School. - O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
I rejoice to see Thee,
Will thou pass over me today?
Without my being blest?
