SALVATION GAVE YOU POWER OVER SIN

To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins (Luke 1:77).

In Luke 1:76-77, we see a powerful revelation about salvation. It says, “And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways; To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins.” The first thing about salvation is remission or the removal of sin. This is so important because without this understanding, many live a life that doesn’t reflect the true change salvation brings.

In Acts 3:25-26, the Apostle Peter addressed the Jewish congregation, reminding them of God’s promise to their ancestors. He declared that they were the children of the prophets and of the covenant made with their forefathers. Peter explained, “Unto you first God, having raised up His Son Jesus, sent Him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities” (Acts 3:26).

This verse reveals another crucial aspect of salvation: the blessing to be turned away from sin. God blessed us by sending Jesus to turn us away from our iniquities. You couldn’t do it by yourself. You might have struggled with sin, but when you received salvation, you received power over sin.

In Luke 24:46-47, Jesus made it clear that repentance and the remission of sins should be preached in His Name among all nations, starting from Jerusalem: “…Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.” Now you can understand why Paul cried out in Acts 13:38-39, “Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.”

This is a truth that many people need to understand. Sin is no longer a factor; its power to lord it over you has been removed. In Christ, you’ve been made sin-free. It helps you further understand why the Bible says in Romans 6:14, “For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.” Hallelujah!

Prayer / Confession

Dear Father, I walk in the liberty of your grace, knowing that sin has no dominion over me. Through the sacrifice of Jesus, I have been made righteous, justified, and sanctified. I live in the consciousness of this victory, free from guilt, walking in the fullness of the blessings of salvation, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
