“He will not be afraid of evil tidings; His heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord.” – PSALM 112:7
The Psalmist was not afraid of bad news because his heart was steady. Bad news can hit us like a sudden storm at sea. But if we trust the Lord, the storm won’t overcome us. “Steadfast” means to be upright. God is like the great rocks along the coastline. The waves crash against them, but they are unmoved.
When you and I trust in God, we are anchoring ourselves to His stability. In fact, in the Hebrew text, the word “trust” means to sprint to God for refuge. So when the tides of bad news crash in, run to the Rock! Confess your anxieties and fears to Him. Then turn them over to His loving and capable care. He will steady your heart
