Topic: Do You Know God? I (Teens Open Heavens 22 January 2021)

Memorise: “Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.” – John 17:3

Read: Daniel 1:8-15

8 But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way.

9 Now God had caused the official to show favor and sympathy to Daniel,

10 but the official told Daniel, “I am afraid of my lord the king, who has assigned your food and drink. Why should he see you looking worse than the other young men your age? The king would then have my head because of you.”

11 Daniel then said to the guard whom the chief official had appointed over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah,

12 ”Please test your servants for ten days: Give us nothing but vegetables to eat and water to drink.

13 Then compare our appearance with that of the young men who eat the royal food, and treat your servants in accordance with what you see.”

14 So he agreed to this and tested them for ten days.

15 At the end of the ten days they looked healthier and better nourished than any of the young men who ate the royal food.

Bible In One Year: Exodus 1-3; Matthew 15:21-39

MESSAGE:

Today’s topic is a question every user of this devotional especially those who claim to be children of God must answer. John 17:25 says:

“O righteous Father, the world hath known not known Thee: but I have known Thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me.”

Jesus Christ could boldly say that He knows our Heavenly Father, no wonder He did many exploits here on earth. If you must succeed in life and do great exploits in your generation, you have to know God. Daniel understood this and he was able to do great exploits. He also reigned with three kings because his source of knowledge and strength was God. In Daniel 11:32b, he said:

“but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.”

So, if you don’t know God, you can start by confessing Jesus as your Lord and personal Saviour, ask Him to forgive your sins, repent and begin to study the word of God as from today.

Key Point:

Those who know their God shall do great exploits.

Hymn 19: What Can Wash Away My Stain

  1. What can wash away my stain?
    Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
What can make me whole again?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Chorus:
Oh! precious is the flow
That makes me white as snow!
No other fount I know, .
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

  1. For my cleansing this I see –
    Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
For my pardon this my plea –
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
  2. Nothing can for sin atone,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus:
Naught of good that I have done,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
  3. This is all my hope and peace.
Nothing but the blood of Jesus:
    His is all my righteousness
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
