TOPIC: LIBERTY IN CHRIST

READ: 2 CORINTHIANS 3:12-18 (NKJV)12. Therefore, since we have such hope, we use great boldness of speech—13. unlike Moses, who put a veil over his face so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the end of what was passing away.14. But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ.

15. But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart. 16. Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17. Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

THE MESSAGE:In Exodus 34:29-35, when Moses spent a lengthy time in the presence ofGod to receive the Ten Commandments again on two tablets of stone, the glory of God rubbed off on him and was reflected on his face but he never knew this. From the reaction of the people, he learnt what had happened and decided to use a veil to cover his face anytime he wished to address the people.

According to verse 16 of our text, “Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.” This glory reflected on Moses’ face signified that the old dispensation fades but the glory from Christ in the new order is permanent. This gives one liberty (verse 17). When Christians behold constantly Christ’s divine glory, this transforms them from glory to glory (verse 18).

Where the Spirit of God is, there is liberty. When one is in Christ, he feels free to worship God. All limitations and restrictions are removed by Christ. Nobody needs to legislate to you to do this or that. The Spirit of God in the Christian will guide and direct one in day-to-day affairs of the person. The Law of Moses is good but grace in Christ is better. Paul asked the Galatians in Galatians 3:3 that having started in the Spirit, why would they go back to the flesh. Let us apply this liberty wisely (Galatians 5:13).

PRAYER: Dear Lord, having been set free in Christ, grant me the grace to ever remain free
