READ: MICAH 7:1-7 (NKJV)1. Woe is me! For I am like those who gather summer fruits, Like those who glean vintage grapes; [There is no] cluster to eat Of the first-ripe fruit [which] my soul desires.2. The faithful [man] has perished from the earth, And [there is] no one upright among men. They all lie in wait for blood; Every man hunts his brother with a net.3. That they may successfully do evil with both hands — The prince asks [for gifts,] The judge [seeks] a bribe, And the great [man] utters his evil desire; So they scheme together.4. The best of them [is] like a brier; The most upright [is sharper] than a thorn hedge; The day of your watchman and your punishment comes; Now shall be their perplexity.5. Do not trust in a friend; Do not put your confidence in a companion; Guard the doors of your mouth From her who lies in your bosom.6. For son dishonors father, Daughter rises against her mother, Daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; A man’s enemies [are] the men of his own household.7. Therefore I will look to the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation; My God will hear me.

THE MESSAGE:*Sometimes life comes crashing in; you feel all is lost; there is no hope and disappointment fills the air. See the situation of the prophet Micah as he sorrowed over Israel’s sin. The attendant consequences somewhat describes our nation today, and this may very well describe even your personal situation: There is no cluster to eat of the first-ripe fruit; there is the lack of faithful and upright men; princes ask for bribe, etc. It indeed looks like a hopeless situation until you get to verse 7: “Therefore I will look to the LORD: I will wait for the God of my salvation; My God will hear me. “The situation in our nation today looks hopeless; but that is when we choose to stop at verse 6.

Even as an individual, are you going through a difficult situation? It could be the loss of a loved one, or the loss of a job. It could be disappointment or betrayal. Whatever it may be, I encourage you to do the two things in verse 7: Look to the Lord. Maybe you’ve been looking at humans for too long. Stop looking around. Look up. (ii) Wait for God. Hear the prophet’s firm conclusion: “God will hear me.” Let this be your assurance today.

PRAYER:* Thank You, Lord, that You are the God who hears
