TOPIC: CALLED TO BE DIFFERENT
READ: EPHESIANS 4:17-24 (NKJV)

17. This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind,
18. having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart;
19. who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.
20. But you have not so learned Christ,
21. if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus:
22. that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts,
23. and be renewed in the spirit of your mind,
24. and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.

THE MESSAGE:

Becoming a Christian or having a true association with Christ entails deserting every old life of sin. Our text tells us that the thoughts of the gentiles (unbelievers) are futile, their understanding darkened and their living separated from God. They have lost all sensitivity of God and spiritual things, thereby becoming carnal in their living.

Ponder a minute: What influences your judgments?Where do you spend your time? On what do you spend your strength, money and wealth? Do you focus on material gains, vengeance, sectionalism and fleshly desires or do you meditate on fulfilling God’s purpose – mercy, love and godliness? Now judge within yourself, are you a Church goer (unbeliever)?Are you really different from the world? A Christian business man once told me of a colleague who, wanting to avoid being regarded as one of the evil men in society, decided to join a Church. He happily invited him to join his Church, but before he met him again, he had joined another Church which people advised him would hide his evil ways. If you are called to be a Christian, put off your old self, and put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

PRAYER: Father please help me to live a life that will make me different from the world. Amen.
