TOPIC: ADVICE FOR MEETING SPECIFIC NEEDS
READ: JAMES 5:13-16 (NKJV)

13. Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms.
14. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.
15. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
16. Confess [your] trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

THE MESSAGE:

The Christian life is not always rosy; as long as we are in this world, we, as believers must face trials, temptations and tribulations. Our reading today tells us how to approach specific needs we encounter as believers:
i. Are we suffering? The Bible encourages us to pray (verse 13).
ii. Are we happy and cheerful? Let us sing psalms and praises (verse 13).
iii. Are we sick (verse 14)? We should call the elders (Ministers and other faithful believers) of the Church to pray for us.
iv. These elders are to anoint such as are sick with oil in the name of the Lord. Such prayer of faith will heal the sick or save the sick if he/she is not a believer. If the sickness is as a result of sin or unconfessed sin in the life of a believer, he/she is assured of forgiveness (verses 14-15).
v. The importance of confession of sin and prayer by mature believers is paramount (verse 16). Such effective fervent prayer, God will surely answer (verses 16-17).

PRAYER: Thank You O Lord, for providing us various ways of help in our difficult situations.
