TOPIC: THE GOD WHO NEVER FAILS!
READ: PSALM 146 (NKJV)

1. Praise the LORD! Praise the LORD, O my soul!
2. While I live I will praise the LORD; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.
3. Do not put your trust in princes, [Nor] in a son of man, in whom [there is] no help.
4. His spirit departs, he returns to his earth; In that very day his plans perish.
5. Happy [is he] who [has] the God of Jacob for his help, Whose hope [is] in the LORD his God,
6. Who made heaven and earth, The sea, and all that [is] in them; Who keeps truth forever,
7. Who executes justice for the oppressed, Who gives food to the hungry. The LORD gives freedom to the prisoners.
8. The LORD opens [the eyes of] the blind; The LORD raises those who are bowed down; The LORD loves the righteous.
9. The LORD watches over the strangers; He relieves the fatherless and widow; But the way of the wicked He turns upside down.
10. The LORD shall reign forever — Your God, O Zion, to all generations. Praise the LORD!

THE MESSAGE:

Today’s Psalm begins with a soliloquy with the Psalmist telling himself to praise God now that he (the psalmist) was alive. As long as you are alive, find reasons to praise God because those who are in the graves do not praise him. Praising God brings joy to your heart and strength to body. That’s why Nehemiah 8:10 says the joy of the Lord is my strength.

Verse 3 enjoins us not to put our trust in man. However, many trust in their connections. Do you trust in man, charm, occult rings or secret societies? Many people who put their trust in connections from man have been woefully disappointed in their time of need. Some who trusted in great men for help did not get the help because of the sudden death of such great men. No wonder Psalm 118: 8, 9 says that it is better to trust in God than put confidence in man (princes). If you trust in God, He will never disappoint you because He keeps His truth forever. He will never be partial to you because He executes justice for the oppressed. He will never allow you to starve because He gives food to the hungry. He will deliver you from captivity because He gives freedom to prisoners. In fact, the Lord will watch over you, establish you in righteousness and give you peace. Psalm 125 concludes the matter by saying that those who trust in the Lord are like mount Zion which cannot be moved, but abides forever.

PRAYER: God help me to trust in You in all circumstances of my life.
