TOPIC: O FOOD, FALL INTO MY MOUTH!

READ: ACTS 13:13-22 (NKJV)13. Now when Paul and his party set sail from Paphos, they came to Perga in Pamphylia; and John, departing from them, returned to Jerusalem.14. But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day and sat down.15. And after the reading of the Law and the Prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent to them, saying, “Men [and] brethren, if you have any word of exhortation for the people, say on.”16. Then Paul stood up, and motioning with [his] hand said, “Men of Israel, and you who fear God, listen:17. “The God of this people Israel chose our fathers, and exalted the people when they dwelt as strangers in the land of Egypt, and with an uplifted arm He brought them out of it.18. “Now for a time of about forty years He put up with their ways in the wilderness.19. “And when He had destroyed seven nations in the land of Canaan, He distributed their land to them by allotment.20. “After that He gave [them] judges for about four hundred and fifty years, until Samuel the prophet.21. “And afterward they asked for a king; so God gave them Saul the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for forty years.22. “And when He had removed him, He raised up for them David as king, to whom also He gave testimony and said, ‘I have found David the [son] of Jesse, a man after My [own] heart, who will do all My will.’THE MESSAGE:“God has finished the work of salvation in Christ”, the preacher was saying that day in Church. Though that was my father preaching, his words hit me in an unusual way. “You are the one to repent, you are the one to accept His gift in Christ; God cannot repent for you.” He explained that that would be like sitting down on the table after your wife has served a good meal she cooked, and saying “O food, fall into my mouth!” Dad has since joined the Saints Triumphant. Paul’s message in Antioch in Pisidia reminds me again of what God has done and desires to do for all: “The God of this people Israel chose our fathers, and exalted the people when they dwelt as strangers in the land of Egypt, and with an uplifted arm he brought them out” (verse 17). This is a testimony to the power of our God: It demonstrates His strength and limitless divine capabilities. But it also points us to what God desires for all creation. He wants to deliver all from “Egypt” – sin. Have you allowed the “uplifted arm” of God deliver you from the Egypt of sin? Do you have a clear testimony of salvation? God has done all that is necessary; He only expects you now to play your part. Do not say you’ll be saved if God wants you to be saved. He already does and has done all in Christ. Do not sit and say “O food, fall into my mouth!” With your own hands, take the meal and put it into your mouth. Accept Christ today. If you already have, tell someone else about salvation today. ACTION: Insist on telling someone about salvation in Christ today if you’re already saved.
