TOPIC: STAYING TOGETHER IN HIS PRESENCE
READ: ACTS 1:12-14 (NKJV)

12. Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day’s journey.
13. And when they had entered, they went up into the upper room where they were staying: Peter, James, John, and Andrew; Philip and Thomas; Bartholomew and Matthew; James [the son] of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot; and Judas [the son] of James.
14. These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.

THE MESSAGE:

After Jesus Christ ascended into heaven, the apostles returned to Jerusalem and went upstairs to the room where they were staying (verses 12-13). Notice that among those present in the room were the following persons:

i) The remaining eleven apostles;
ii) Certain women who were not named;
iii) Mary the mother of Jesus;
iv) The brothers of Jesus.
It is interesting to note that as they all stayed together they had one major activity – prayer. Verse 14 tells us that all of them participated together constantly in prayer.

This shows that this assembly had a sense of unity and reverence for God. Observe that by this time the brothers of Jesus had believed in Him (verse 14).
Praying constantly is a Christian virtue that should be emulated as commanded in the Scriptures (1 Thessalonians 5:17). Let us learn from the disciples to constantly pray for our nation, the Church and for all members of our families, especially every morning and night.

Remember that the family that prays together stays together. May God bless you as you decide to always spend quality time together with your family in God’s presence.

PRAYER: Help me O God to always participate in prayers at home and in the Church. Amen.
