TOPIC: Recalled And Restored

READ: Jeremiah 31:27-34 King James Version (KJV)

27 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of man, and with the seed of beast.

28 And it shall come to pass, that like as I have watched over them, to pluck up, and to break down, and to throw down, and to destroy, and to afflict; so will I watch over them, to build, and to plant, saith the LORD.

29 In those days they shall say no more, The fathers have eaten a sour grape, and the children’s teeth are set on edge.

30 But every one shall die for his own iniquity: every man that eateth the sour grape, his teeth shall be set on edge.

31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:

32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:

33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

THE MESSAGE:

God had spoken to the Prophet Jeremiah and had revealed to him what was going to be the restored fortune of apostate Israel. Israel had gone into exile as a punishment for forsaking the worship of the One True God, Jehovah, in preference for the pagan gods. But the Lord, seeing their afflictions in foreign lands, would have pity on them. And even though they had broken the covenant by which they had been made His chosen people, God would see to it that they were restored to Him, this time, under a new and better covenant agreement which would guarantee a personal relationship with, and accountability to, God.

Under this new covenant: The people of God who would come to Him would experience true prosperity. This is because many from other nations would see how good their God would be to them, and they too would come to Him. This new covenant is by far superior to the old, and mirrors much more the heavenly and the spiritual. The Lord would give them pardon and peace; and a new enablement to know and love Him. This is the heart’s circumcision. They would receive the grace to live for Him. This truth, however, is for the future Gospel Church when the new covenant grace would be consummated. God’s people would know Him and by their personal relationship with Him, He will reveal Himself to them.

God’s promise to you is that no matter how far you have gone away from Him, He loves you and will bring you back to Himself. Will you now turn away from every sin or habit that creates a barrier between you and Him? He will take you in.

PRAYER: Dear loving Father, I come to You from the wilderness of sin. Receive me by Your mercy, in Jesus name, Amen.
