TOPIC: ASSURANCE OF SECURITY IN CHRIST JESUS*READ: John 17:11-19 (NKJV)11. “Now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep through Your name those whom You have given Me, that they may be one as We [are.]12. “While I was with them in the world, I kept them in Your name. Those whom You gave Me I have kept; and none of them is lost except the son of perdition, that the Scripture might be fulfilled.13. “But now I come to You, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have My joy fulfilled in themselves.14. “I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.15. “I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one.16. “They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.17. “Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.18. “As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world.19. “And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth.*THE MESSAGE:*We live in a world where insecurity is a great challenge. In our passage today, Jesus Christ interceded for His disciples that God the Father would keep them from evil. He prayed that they would remain faithful and united, that they may not be defeated by the evil that is in the world.Beloved, as we know, the time of the appearance of the Son of Man is nearer now than when we first believed. Satan and his cohorts are also aware and are putting more effort into their mission of attacking believers. Revelation 12:12 says, “Rejoice then, O heaven and you that dwell therein! But woe to you, O earth and sea, for the devil has come down to you in great wrath, because he knows that his time is short!” The aggressive Satan has become more violent and fierce in his attack as the days roll. Let’s note the words of Jesus in verse 15: I do not pray that you should take them out of the world, but that you should keep them from the evil one. As the redeemed of the Lord, remember that Jesus Christ did not pray that His Father should take you away from this wicked world but He repeatedly interceded that the Father would keep and protect you from evil. Therefore, be courageous and strong in the Lord, knowing that the assurance of your security is guaranteed in Christ Jesus… for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day (II Timothy 1:12).*PRAYER:* Lord Jesus Christ, I thank You for keeping watch over me; keep me firm in the assurance of Your protection. Amen
