(Epiphany 3)
TOPIC: JESUS THE LIGHT AND LIFE
READ: 1 John 1:1-7 (NKJV)

1. That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life —
2. the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us —
3. that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship [is] with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.
4. And these things we write to you that your joy may be full.
5. This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.
6. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.
7. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

THE MESSAGE:

Today, John boldly bears witness of what he had seen, heard, and touched. The evidence is that Jesus is the Word of life Who was with the Father and He was made manifest to us.The way we can bear witness about Christ is by preaching to sinners and urging them to repent and receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. If you do not go for evangelism, you need to buckle up. Verse 2 says that the essence of witnessing to people is to make them come into the fellowship of believers, Jesus and the Father.

Verses 5 and 6 are apt at this time when people claim they are Christians, but don’t bear fruits that befit Christianity. Some Christians go to native doctors, cheat, take or give bribes, commit sexual immorality, fightand even get drunk. Some beat their spouses while many are in secret societies, steal, cheat and tell lies comfortably. People who do these things are walking in darkness and do not practise the truth. People who walk in the light live in holiness and righteousness and depart from sin. They have fellowship with the Father and the Son and the blood of Jesus cleanses them from all sins.

PRAYER: Sing Hymn SS&S 379, Stanza 1 and ask God to keep you in fellowship with Him and His Son.

Have you been to Jesus for the cleansing power?
Are you washed in the Blood of the Lamb?
Are you fully trusting in His grace this Hour?
Are you washed in the Blood of the Lamb?

*Chorus:* Are you washed…. in the Blood
In the soul-cleansing Blood of the Lamb?
Are your garments spotless? Are they white as snow?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?

*HAPPY SUNDAY!*
