TOPIC: PROMISE FULFILLED

READ: JOSHUA 5:10-15 (NKJV)10. Now the children of Israel camped in Gilgal, and kept the Passover on the fourteenth day of the month at twilight on the plains of Jericho.11. And they ate of the produce of the land on the day after the Passover, unleavened bread and parched grain, on the very same day.12. Then the manna ceased on the day after they had eaten the produce of the land; and the children of Israel no longer had manna, but they ate the food of the land of Canaan that year.13. And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, a Man stood opposite him with His sword drawn in His hand. And Joshua went to Him and said to Him, “[Are] You for us or for our adversaries?”14. So He said, “No, but [as] Commander of the army of the LORD I have now come.” And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshiped, and said to Him, “What does my Lord say to His servant?”15. Then the Commander of the LORD’s army said to Joshua, “Take your sandal off your foot, for the place where you stand [is] holy.” And Joshua did so.*THE MESSAGE:*The Israelites finally made it. Though the land was not yet conquered, but they had stepped into it. In Gilgal, where the camped, they celebrated the Passover which reminded them of God’s mighty miracles that brought them out of Egypt. In Egypt where they first had the Passover, they ate in fear and in haste (Exodus 12). In the Promised Land, it was a special celebration in a joyous atmosphere! For 40 years, God had miraculously supplied manna to Israel as food (Exodus 16:14-30), but as they ate the food of the Promised Land, the manna ceased (verse 12). Joshua had already been told to be strong and courageous (Joshua 1:7) and as we observe, he displayed courage by the way he approached the man that stood opposite him with a sword, whom he later discovered was the commander of the Lord’s Army (verses 13-14). Follow God’s timing in your life. God provided food for the Israelites while they were in the wilderness but in the Promised Land, He provided food from the land itself. Look into your life and find out what God has deposited in you to make a living. Do not be lazy, waiting for a miracle to happen. Don’t resort to betting; it is a lazy man’s view of quick wealth! The Israelites were given the task of planting and harvesting in the Promised Land – pray and put your talent at work. The time of manna has gone.*PRAYER:* Gracious Father, thank You for feeding me with fish when I couldn’t catch fish. Open my eyes to see where to cast my net and catch the fish by myself now
