THE MESSAGE:
Today is a Saint Day. Saint Days in the Church are set aside to recall the exploits of heroes of faith particularly the Apostles of Christ. Today, we remember the life of Apostle Andrew. According to our text, he was fishing with his brother, Simon Peter, when Jesus called out to them saying, ‘Follow me and I will make you fishers of men. They immediately answered the call. This probably was not the first time He met Jesus (John 1:40-42). He was a disciple of John the Baptist, and his attention was brought to the fact that Jesus Christ is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. After discovering this, he immediately told his own brother Peter about what he had found. He said, ‘We have found the Messiah’ (John 1:29-41). Both of them became followers of Jesus Christ, and became fishers of men. There was nothing too great, precious, and valuable for him to do away with for the higher calling of Jesus Christ, and for greater exploit.
Dear reader, what is that in your hands that is hindering you from completely yielding to Christ? John was a good master/teacher but Andrew left him all the same for Jesus Christ the Lord of all. What do you regard as master in your life that has so taken you and makes it appear impossible for you to fully do the will of God? Today we remember St. Andrew for his decision for Christ. Eternal records will bring to remembrance your decisions for Christ in this lifetime: your decision for salvation, your decision for holy living, your decision to make your life in Christ bless other lives around you.
PRAYER: Dear heavenly Father, help my decisions on a daily basis to yield fully to the call of Your Son as my Master.
