TOPIC: UNDISTRACTED DEVOTION
READ: LUKE 2:36-38 (NKJV)36. Now there was one, Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was of a great age, and had lived with a husband seven years from her virginity;37. and this woman [was] a widow of about eighty-four years, who did not depart from the temple, but served [God] with fastings and prayers night and day.38. And coming in that instant she gave thanks to the Lord, and spoke of Him to all those who looked for redemption in Jerusalem.*THE MESSAGE:*Hannah was a prophetess as well as a widow of a very old age. Today’s passage tells us that she did not depart from the temple, but too busy. Some just pray to fulfil all righteousness, usually with served God with prayer and fasting days and nights. Unfortunately today, many Christians are too lazy to pray and fast, while some are distracted attention. For example, some people while praying receive and make calls on their phones from time to time!Fasting is a good way of subduing the flesh to give our prayers more fervency – we should fast as much as God enables us. We can also show devotion to God by constantly attending Church or fellowship just as Hanna did. Some Christians miss Church services on Sundays in order to watch football matches. Some Christian businessmen/women stay away from Church services on some Sundays because they are expecting customers/clients. This is a total show of lack of commitment and devotion to God. This year, let our devotion to God be total and undivided – it demands our prayers, fasting, time, money, our life and our all!*PRAYER:* Great King, You deserve my worship. Please give me the grace to be devoted to you in prayer fasting and attendance to Church and fellowship, in Jesus’ Name. Amen
