TOPIC: ONE THING WE SHOULD NOT FORGET
READ: 2 PETER 3:8-10 (NKJV)
8. But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day [is] as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
9. The Lord is not slack concerning [His] promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
10. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.
THE MESSAGE:
Apostle Peter in this last chapter of his second letter to the believers reminds them that God is not slow in fulfilling what He said. Peter also wanted the believers to know that God’s calendar is different from man’s calendar. He also told them that though God is patient with us, it does not mean that He is weak in fulfilling His word but only wants us to come back to our senses and repent.
God’s promises are real and must surely come to pass; each one at God’s own appointed time. We should not take God’s patience for granted. We must repent of whatever it is that is making us think that God is slow in fulfilling His promises and turn to Him now. The day will come when we least expect it when all the things that have taken away our attention from the reality of things will be destroyed.
PRAYER: Father, grant me grace to heed to Your word in Jesus name. Amen.
