THE MESSAGE:

Today is Advent Sunday. In the Christian Church calendar, this is the period of preparation for the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ at Christmas and also for the Second Coming of Christ. While waiting for the Second Coming, Christians are encouraged to be prepared to meet the Lord.

In our text, the Psalmist recounts the joy of being in the house of the Lord. The house of the Lord is a place of worship, not a social gathering or business transaction centre. It is a place where lives are moulded, sinners are convicted and saints are strengthened in the faith, in preparation to meet the Lord. As we commence another Advent season, we need to examine our attitude and motives in worship: Are we approaching God in order to receive momentary blessings or do we have eternity in view? Christ’s first coming was to save sinners; His Second Coming is to bring judgement on all men. Are you prepared for the coming of the Messiah?

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, help me worship You in Spirit and in truth as I await Your Second Coming. Amen
