7:15. ” I, Daniel, was grieved in my spirit within [my] body, and the visions of my head troubled me.
7:16. “I came near to one of those who stood by, and asked him the truth of all this. So he told me and made known to me the interpretation of these things:
7:17. ‘Those great beasts, which are four, [are] four kings [which] arise out of the earth.
7:18. ‘But the saints of the Most High shall receive the kingdom, and possess the kingdom forever, even forever and ever.’
7:19. “Then I wished to know the truth about the fourth beast, which was different from all the others, exceedingly dreadful, [with] its teeth of iron and its nails of bronze, [which] devoured, broke in pieces, and trampled the residue with its feet;
7:20. “and the ten horns that [were] on its head, and the other [horn] which came up, before which three fell, namely, that horn which had eyes and a mouth which spoke pompous words, whose appearance [was] greater than his fellows.
7:21. “I was watching; and the same horn was making war against the saints, and prevailing against them,
7:22. “until the Ancient of Days came, and a judgment was made [in favor] of the saints of the Most High, and the time came for the saints to possess the kingdom.
THE MESSAGE:
People perish for lack of knowledge (Hosea 4: 6). Knowledge is the fact of knowing about something; it can be general understanding or familiarity with a subject, place or situation. The ability to know and study what is ambiguous or unclear is synonymous with the quest for knowledge. Daniel had a dream in which he did not know the meaning and interpretation, so he became worried and troubled. In order to know the meaning, he sought for help from his close neighbour and enquired of the truth of the dream. He asked for the meaning of each and every one of the beasts.
Several passages of the bible may not be too clear to understand, except by the help of the Holy Spirit. Christians should endeavour to ask for knowledge to understand what God is speaking per time. “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him” (James 1:5). Daniel did not hesitate to ask others for insight and we must not also shy away from asking and studying to know more. We can know more by daily studying the word of God and praying deliberately for understanding (2 Timothy 2:15). May God grant us the understanding to know Him more clearly in Jesus’ name.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father; give me the grace to know Your will for me and understand Your purpose for my life through Jesus Christ our Lord
