BIBLE MEDITATION:
“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me by Your generous Spirit. Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, and sinners shall be converted to You” (Psalm 51:10-13)
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
The most miserable person on Earth is not an unsaved person, but someone who knows God, who has experienced salvation and what it means to have a relationship with Him, yet is out of fellowship with God. Stop and think about that. It is absolutely true.
If you are truly a child of God and out of fellowship with Him, I can state right now—you’re carrying a big burden. Now, if you’re not saved, you’re not carrying this burden at all. But if you’re truly saved and out of fellowship with God, that’s a different story completely.
When David got out of fellowship with God, he came to the point that he cried out to the Lord, “Restore unto me the joy of Your salvation.” He didn’t say, “Lord, restore unto me Your salvation,” but “restore unto me the joy of Your salvation.” He was miserable when he was running from God.
ACTION POINT:
Are you running from God? Or perhaps you know someone who is. Pray for restoration. Today’s passage is a good one to pray for them, inserting your name or their name into the verse, asking God to restore and renew them.
