Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble”
Every generation has a unique role to play in the family of God. Each one performs its part for the church’s mission to be accomplished.
We are one body with many members, and God has set each one in the place that He pleases. Every person is necessary to the mission. We bring our individual passions and personalities, our experiences and expertise to this rich body of believers. We weave them together in unity.
In humility, we submit to one another out of genuine love and affection. We put aside our personal preferences to pursue the power of peace. We place higher priority on the cause of Christ than insisting on having it our way.
In wisdom, the more mature generation can lead the way. Engage with younger believers who need to hear your stories of God’s faithfulness through the years. Be reverent, sound in your faith, and patient as you teach good things (Titus 2:2-3).
Younger members are building on the foundation laid by those who have gone before. Honor those testimonies and allow them to inform your faith walk. Share the new things that God is speaking to you.
Mutual submission accomplishes the mission with which Jesus has entrusted us. Our Christ-like conduct and our love for one another across the generations makes our faith appealing in every way.
Blessing:
May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you and give you His peace. May you experience the confidence and rest that comes from knowing that God has a plan for you. May you always seek to fulfill the will of the Father as you follow in His footsteps. In Jesus’ name…amen.
