8 Days That Changed The World (Part 3)

“This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” 1 Corinthians 11:24

Jesus instituted the Lord’s Supper on the fifth day that changed the world. Jesus entered into the upper room and while holding the bread He said, “this bread represents my body.”  Then He held the juice up and said, “this wine represents my blood.” And He told His disciples, when you take this, my body and my blood, you do this in remembrance of me.

The Bible said in the Book of Leviticus that the life of the flesh is in the blood. This is why communion is so important. If you separate the body from blood and you lose your blood, your body dies because the source of life to the body is the blood. When you take communion, think about the thief hanging on the cross. The man on the right side cried out, “When you come into your kingdom, will you remember me?” It’s the opposite of the word “dismember.” To be dismembered means to be torn apart. This man was saying (paraphrased), I’m hanging on this cross and these nails have dismembered me. They’ve torn me to pieces. But Jesus, when you come into your kingdom, will you remember me? Will you put me back together? Will you take what has been dismembered and remember it?” And Jesus said, “This day you’ll be with me in paradise.”

The significance of communion is when we take the bread and we take the juice, we remember Christ. This fills us with life because the life of the flesh is in the blood. When you truly honor and remember Him, you put Him back together inside of you. Your body is His temple. “He was wounded for your transgressions. He was bruised for your iniquities. The chastisement of your peace was upon Him, and by His stripes you are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5)
