“The honeymoon’s over.” We all know what that idiom means. The reality of marriage – two people becoming one – has begun, and that can be a challenge. Marriage takes work, but there are three principles Paul gives us in First Corinthians chapter seven that can lead to a perpetual honeymoon. I liken them to requirements for a marriage PhD. First, we must discover the PASSIONS of our husband or wife – that’s the P. Whether in the intimacy of your relationship or in daily living, what’s your mate passionate about? Next, we must uncover their HEART – the H. What breaks or thrills their heart? Finally, the D of our PhD. We must get to know their DREAMS, their aspirations. So begin studying your mate for your marriage PhD, which can lead to a honeymoon that lasts forever.
