And let the peace (soul harmony which comes) from Christ rule (act as umpire continually) in your hearts [deciding and settling with finality all questions that arise in your minds, in that peaceful state] to which as [members of Christ’s] one body you were also called [to live]….— Colossians 3:15 (AMPC)

In today’s verse, we’re reminded to make decisions based on what we have peace about, not on a feeling of obligation or others’ opinions. People who do things they don’t have peace about have extremely stressed, miserable lives and usually don’t succeed at the things that matter most to them. This is one of many reasons why it’s so important to follow peace.

For example, if you’re in the middle of something, like watching television, and you suddenly lose your peace about what you’re doing, you have heard from God. He is saying to you, “Turn it off. It’s time to change direction.” Another example: if you lose your peace when you say something unkind, God is speaking to you, and it’ll save you a lot of trouble if you’ll apologize right away.

God leads His people through peace. Anytime you lose or gain your peace, you’re hearing from God—there’s no more powerful compass than the peace in your heart. Follow after it. Follow peace!

Prayer Starter:Father, thank You for giving me the gift of peace, and for teaching me to follow it more and more every day. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
