MEMORISE: For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7

Read: 2 Timothy 1:1-10

  1. Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus,
  2. To Timothy, my dearly beloved son: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
  3. I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day;
  4. Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy;
  5. When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.
  6. Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.
  7. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
  8. Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;
  9. Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,
  10. But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:

MEMORISE: For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7

Bible In One Year: Micah 6-7; Revelation 12:1-17

MESSAGE:

Fear is a tool the devil uses to rob the children of God of their sound mind. When you are afraid, you can never have a sound mind or peace. Fear does not only rob one of sound mind, it also puts one in bondage. Romans 8:15 a says: For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; So fear puts a fellow in bondage, but as a child of God, you have not received the spirit of bondage. What you have is the spirit of power, love and a sound mind.

So what troubles your mind? Psalms 91:5-6 says you do not have to be worried about the terror by night because the One who keeps and watches over you never sleeps nor slumbers. No witch, wizard, kidnapper, ritualist, cultist or armed robber can tamper with you. You also don’t have to be afraid of that bully in your school. Talk to God and He will take care of him. You don’t have to be afraid of that tough subject or course. Talk to your Father and He will give you understanding of it; you will eventually have a good grade in it. God has promised to protect you. So, as long as you remain His child, you have nothing to be afraid of. Beloved, go about your life with a sound mind in the mighty name of Jesus.

Key Point:

You have the spirit of power, love and a sound mind.

Hymns: I’m Pressing On The Upward Way

  1. I’m pressing on the upward way,
    New heights I’m gaining every day;
    Still praying as I onward bound,
    “Lord, plant my feet on higher ground”.

Chorus
Lord, lift me up and let me stand,
By faith on heaven’s table-land;
Where love and joy and light abound,
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.

  1. My heart has no desire to stay,
    Where doubts arise and fears dismay;
    Though some may dwell where these abound,
    My constant aim is higher ground.
  2. Beyond the mist I fain would rise,
    To rest beneath unclouded skies,
    Above earth’s turmoil peace is found
    By those who dwell on higher ground.
  3. I long to scale the utmost height,
    Though rough the way, and hard the fight,
    My song while climbing shall resound
    Lord lead me on to higher ground.
  4. Lord lead me up the mountain side,
    I dare not climb without my Guide;
    And heaven gained, I’ll gaze around,
    With grateful heart from higher ground.
