MEMORISE: And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Hebrews 11:6

READ: Luke 7:2-10

2 There a centurion’s servant, whom his master valued highly, was sick and about to die.

3 The centurion heard of Jesus and sent some elders of the Jews to him, asking him to come and heal his servant.

4 When they came to Jesus, they pleaded earnestly with him, “This man deserves to have you do this,

5 because he loves our nation and has built our synagogue.”

6 So Jesus went with them.

7 He was not far from the house when the centurion sent friends to say to him: “Lord, don’t trouble yourself, for I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. That is why I did not even consider myself worthy to come to you. But say the word, and my servant will be healed.

8 For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and that one, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”

9 When Jesus heard this, he was amazed at him, and turning to the crowd following him, he said, “I tell you, I have not found such great faith even in Israel.”

10 Then the men who had been sent returned to the house and found the servant well.

Bible In One Year: Genesis 23-24; Matthew 8

MESSAGE:

In our Bible reading for today, the centurion exercised such great faith that Jesus attested to his faith. There is an interesting story in Acts 12:13-15, Peter was arrested and kept in prison. Mary the mother of John and some people gathered to pray for his release. God answered their prayer. However, when Peter knocked at the door, rather than let him in, the maid ran to tell them Peter was at the door and the disciples said she was mad. By their reaction to Peter’s sudden appearance, we can say they were just praying without believing that their prayers would be answered.

Mary believers behave like this. They pray but act as if God will not answer. I can confidently tell you that God answers prayers but He needs to see your faith in Him. No one has seen God physically. but you can see Him through the eyes of your faith. Always pray in faith.

Prayer Point:

Father, please help my unbelief.

Hymn 19: What Can Wash Away My Stain

  1. What can wash away my stain?
    Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
    What can make me whole again?
    Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Chorus:
Oh! precious is the flow
That makes me white as snow!
No other fount I know, .
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

  1. For my cleansing this I see –
    Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
    For my pardon this my plea –
    Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
  2. Nothing can for sin atone,
    Nothing but the blood of Jesus:
    Naught of good that I have done,
    Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
  3. This is all my hope and peace.
    Nothing but the blood of Jesus:
    His is all my righteousness
    Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
