THE NEW AND LIVING WAY
Hebrews 10:19-22, Hebrews 4:16
Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; And having an high priest over the house of God; Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. *Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

One of the greatest benefits of understanding the redemptive work that Christ accomplished for us is that it will fill us with the love of God and it will make us draw nearer to God. “The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee,” (Jer.31:3). God wants us to draw nearer to Him. He has brought us into a loving relationship with Himself and He wants us to grow in our loving relationship with Him. He is our Father and we have been brought into the same relationship with the Father that Jesus has with the Father. What a great privilege indeed this is! God wants us to maximize this access and great privilege that He has given us.
For this to happen, our consciences must be clear of every guilt and sin. Our consciences must be soaked and washed with the revelation of what Christ has done for us. When we have a guilty conscience, we will not be sure if God accepts us and hears our prayers like He will do to Jesus and we will not be as bold as we should in relating with God. We will not be free to relate and enjoy fellowship with God the Father like we should. Take a look at how our first text above is rendered in the New Living Translation: “And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus. By his death, Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place. And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God’s house, let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water.”
Prayer:
I thank you Dear Father, for the great love you have shown me through Christ to draw me closer to you. Cleanse my conscience from all guilt.
