Keeping Yourself Whole and Together
Matthew 7:24-27(GNB)
So then, anyone who hears these words of mine and obeys them is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain poured down, the river flooded over, and the wind blew hard against that house. But it did not fall, because it was built on rock. “But anyone who hears this word of mine and does not obey them is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain poured down, the rivers flooded over, the wind blew hard against that house, and it fell. And what a terrible fall that was!”
It should come as no surprise to you that you are going to face challenges and that sometimes, things will not go the way you expect them to. Everybody goes through this and God already knows that you will endure through such times. The important issue, however, is how you choose to see and respond to such times .
If you are going to remain stable and successful when the rains, floods, winds, and storms of life come raging, you need to maintain a solid foundation upon which you are building your life and hopes. Jesus informed us that this solid foundation is rooted in hearing His words and living by those words. When the economy and security situation of the country or your plans, investments or relationships seem not to be going the way you expect them to, does your life sink and tear apart? Or, on the other hand, do you allow the words of Christ to fill your heart with faith and rest in the assurance that because you are living by God’s word, your life is secure and your future is sure? Do you doubt God’s word because of what you are going through or what is happening around you or do you rest in the assurance that God’s word will determine your victory and experience no matter the outcome?
I boldly declare to you that although darkness may cover the earth and gross darkness may cover the people, the Lord shall arise upon you and His glory shall be seen upon you (Isa.60:2). The Bible assures us that Christ upholds all things by the power of His word, (Heb.1:3). By the power of His word, He will uphold your life also. As you give yourself to His word, His word will keep you whole and together and by His word, you will continue thriving and flourishing.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, please help me to build my life and hope on the promises and principles of your word.
