“In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:18
It is important for every married couple to understand that people usually do not change much when they get married. Couples can choose to be happy in their marriages when they learn to accept what they have (Ecclesiastes 7:13).
A man must accept that he is married to a woman; so he must not try to suppress her natural feminine traits, like excessive talking. She is also the weaker vessel and must not be expected to behave and function like a man (1 Peter 3:7).
A woman must also accept that she is married to a man. Men by their make-up are more robust and less chatty. They are interested only in the major facts of an issue and not in the details. She should learn to accept what men like, such as sex and food.
Accept these natural differences and go along happily with them. Each partner must also accept the negative things in your spouse’s character.
You also need to accept the physical structure or looks of your spouse. We all change physically as the years go by. Your love for your spouse must not be dependent on physical changes. Nevertheless, every spouse must make the effort to maintain good looks.
God wants us to be joyful and happy. Happiness comes from accepting what we have and getting along with it. Conflicts come about when we struggle with certain things we cannot change.
