The Lord is on my side, He is among those who help me; therefore I will look [in triumph] on those who hate me. It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man.— Psalm 118:7-8 (AMP)
Jesus didn’t always enjoy the acceptance or approval of most people while He was on earth. He was despised and rejected by countless people, but He always knew His heavenly Father loved Him. He was sure of who He was, and it gave Him confidence.
Everything that Jesus endured and suffered was for our sake. He went through rejection so that when we face it, we can go through it and not be damaged by it—or if we’ve already been damaged, then we can completely recover. Knowing that He loves us gives us the ability to be bold and confident (see Ephesians 5:29-30; John 6:37-39).
There will always be some people who won’t accept you, but their acceptance isn’t what ultimately matters. God loves you unconditionally; He always approves of you and accepts you. His love is complete, unchanging and will never leave you, no matter what.
Prayer Starter: Father, thank You for loving me completely, no matter what. Please heal me from the pain of others’ rejection, and help me receive and remember Your love in every moment. In Jesus’ name, amen.
