But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth

To our faith, we must add power! The power of the Holy Spirit fuels our faith.

The Lamb of God came to take away the sins of the world. Jesus told the disciples that He would be crucified, rise again, and ascend to the Father. He wouldn’t leave them alone; He would send another, and they would receive power when that Holy Spirit came upon them.

Power to do what? Jesus inspired them with these words in John 14:12: “In solemn truth I tell you, anyone believing in me shall do the same miracles I have done, and even greater ones, because I am going to be with the Father.”

The disciples saw Jesus take a sack lunch and feed 5000. He walked on water in the midnight storm. With a few words, He subdued the wind and waves. He halted a funeral procession to bring the dead back to life. And through the power of the Holy Spirit, we will do greater things than these!

On the Day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit filled the upper room, and the Church was born when that power came upon it. The gates of hell will not prevail against us! We are the Church triumphant.

Today’s Blessing:

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you and give you His peace. May you be consumed by the fire and power of the Holy Spirit to do even greater things for the glory of God!
