“But seeing the wind, he became afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, ‘Lord, save me!’” – MATTHEW 14:30
I don’t know if this is the shortest prayer in the Bible, but it is definitely brief! I like this prayer; it is a passionate S.O.S. Remember how the disciples saw Jesus walking to them on the Sea of Galilee, and Peter asked Jesus to command him to walk on the water to Him. Once Peter took his eyes off Jesus, he began to sink, and he didn’t have time for any formal or fancy language. He just cried out in desperation, ‘Lord, save me.’ Sometimes, when difficulty comes into our lives, and we realize we need to get serious about the Lord, all we may be able to do at the moment is cry out, ‘Lord, save me!’ But that is all it really takes.
When we cry in desperation to the one Who can rescue us, we can be confident that the Lord is ready – and waiting – and will reach out His hand.
