Memorise: That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour; 1 Thessalonians 4:4

BIBLE READING: 1 Thessalonians 4:1-4

  1. Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.
  2. For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.
  3. For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:
  4. That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;

Bible Reading In One Year: 1 Chronicles 28-29; John 11:47-57

MESSAGE:

An apprentice is someone who is attached to a master, who likes the trade of the master and wants to follow in the footsteps of the master. One thing you find with apprentices is that they carefully observe their master and repeat what they see him do. They learn by emulation.

The apprentice that will eventually become a master himself must have a high level of inquisitiveness. He must be ready to ask questions on areas he is not clear about.

He must have a probing mind and be ready to learn. If you think you already know enough as an apprentice to God, then He has nothing else to teach you.

This year, God wants to use you to do the impossible. John 14:12 says ..and greater works than these shall ye do… For it to be possible, you have to follow directly in Jesus footsteps. Your words, thoughts and actions must be tailored perfectly after Him. Besides, the vessel God will use must be clean and holy, constantly ready for His use.

Even as a human, no one would like to make use of a dirty plate, how much more God? Are you clean?, What kind of thoughts do you allow in your mind?. What kind of music do you listen too?

How often do you renew your mind with the word of God? Do you weigh all your actions by the standard of the Bible?

Key Point:

God will only use clean vessels. Are you clean?

Hymn: Take My Life , And Let It Be

  1. Take my life and let it be
    Consecrated, Lord, to Thee;
    Take my moments and my days,
    Let them flow in ceaseless praise.
  2. Take my hands and let them move
    At the impulse of Thy love;
    Take my feet and let them be
    Swift and beautiful for Thee.
  3. Take my voice and let me sing
    Always, only for my King;
    Take my lips and let them be
    Filled with messages from Thee.
  4. Take my silver and my gold
    Not a mite would I withhold;
    Take my intellect and use
    Every power as Thou shalt choose.
  5. Take my will and make it
    Thine It shall be no longer mine;
    Take my heart, it is Thine own
    It shall be Thy royal throne.
  6. Take my love, my Lord, I pour
    At Thy feet its treasure store.
    Take myself and I will be
    Ever, only, all for Thee.
