Are you ready for a party?

And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These are the true words of God.”           

–Revelation 19:9

I love weddings. Now, I realize there are some who don’t share my sentiments. But when it comes to the celebration of two people joining together for a lifetime of love and commitment, I can’t think of a better reason to celebrate. In fact, if there’s ever a reason to party, it’s for a wedding!

A wedding is a celebration of a committed union… and it’s exactly the imagery Jesus uses of the celebration that will take place when we who are in Him will once and for all be united with Him. On that day, the bride of Christ (the Church) will be joined to Jesus and an eternal celebration will ensue.

This celebration is what gives us hope on our darkest days. No matter what we face in life – sickness, death, financial uncertainty, broken relationships – we have confidence that a day is coming when our sorrows and pain will be done away with and we’ll celebrate our forever union with Jesus.

Though your sorrows may last through the night, joy comes with the morning. Whatever you face today, look to the joyful celebration that’s to come when, by faith in Christ, you’ll be united with Him forever!
