ARE YOU REALLY FOCUSING ON CHRIST?

Luke 10:38-39, 41-42 (GNB)

…Jesus and his disciples…came to a village…a woman named Martha welcomed him in her home. She had a sister named Mary, who sat down at the feet of the Lord and listened to his teaching. *The Lord answered…, “Martha, Martha! You are worried and troubled over so many things, but just one is needed. Mary has chosen the right thing, and it will not be taken away from her.”

When you are focusing on something, the image of that thing gets clearer to you and your mind gets filled with more of that thing. For some time now, our theme of the year has always been based on focusing on Christ and I believe God that your focus on Christ is increasing and growing stronger.

Our theme for this year is, ‘Focus on Christ to enjoy the benefits of the Cross.’ The real way we focus on Christ is not by how much we serve or engage in church activities just like Martha was doing in our text above. Serving and engaging in church activities are good, but the real way we focus on Christ is by hearing and studying the revelation of Christ just like Mary did. That’s the only way we can know the benefits of the Cross, have the faith of God for them and experience them in our lives. If you’re not focusing on Christ as you serve and engage in church activities, you will be as frustrated as Martha was.

Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light,” (Matt.11:28-30, NIV). If you are really focusing on Christ, you will be learning of Him and you will be experiencing His rest. You will have faith in Him and your faith will rest more in Him and all He has done for you.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, please, help me to listen to and study more of Christ’s revelation. I want to know more about Christ.
