ARE YOU TRULY RECEIVING AND USING THE REVELATION OF CHRIST?
Hebrews 5:11-12, 14 (NIV)
We have much to say about this, but it is hard to make it clear to you because you no longer try to understand. In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! *But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.
Many believers are not growing as they should because they are not truly receiving the revelation of Christ. All of God’s treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden in Christ, (Colossians 2:4). There is so much in Christ that God wants to reveal to you so you can experience them. As God reveals His hidden wisdom in Christ to you, you will experience His glory, (1 Corinthians 2:7). By His Spirit God wants to reveal things to you that eyes have not seen, ears have not heard and minds have not imagined, so that you can experience them, (1 Corinthians 2:9-10). Everything God does, He does by His word, (John 1:3). God does everything He does by revelation, (Amos 3:7).
In our text above, the writer was lamenting because there was so much about Christ that he couldn’t reveal to those he was writing to because they were not growing spiritually. The reason he said they still needed milk is because since they got born again they had refused to desire the revelation of Christ just like babies desire milk.
The writer goes further to explain the process of growing spiritually. He describes it as a process of training oneself by making use of the revelation of Christ. If your physical body does not absorb and make use of the food you eat, you will not grow.
PRAYER:
Dear Father, please help me to keep filling myself with the revelation of Christ and to keep applying this revelation in my life.
